Hey

I'm looking to setup some normal TV to stream through my Xbox 360 that is acting as an extender from my laptop to my bigger LCD monitor.

Has anyone here done something like this before?
Or does anyone know of the best USB TV dongle to use?
 
dude you realise that our (lack of)government still have not decided on the final format... DVB-T seems the obvious choice but they haven't announced it yet and are still quibbling over the brazil format (ISDB-T2)

freakin circus if you ask me

It will probably be DVB-T2, I hope... It would be a good idea to wait, before spending any money on something that is not really available yet.
 
Easy way is to buy a normal analogue USB Tuner and install it and setup Windows Media Center. Then connect the laptop to the LCD monitor and link the laptop and XBOX via LAN. Then open the media center and click on tasks>extender and follow the prompts. Be aware that USB Tuners are typically software based and therefore tend to have fairly poor quality video.

the problem I have is that all the shops are selling tv's with DVB-T tuners... which are all gonna be totally useless if they dont go with that exact type.

i would be PISSED if I went and bought a tv with a digital tuner that turned out to be useless, only to go and have to buy a setup-top box!

like I said.... circus....

TV's with DVB tuners might be useless regardless... if they encrypt, like they want to, you will need a STB anyway.

why on earth do they wanna encrypt?? idiots!!!

they not encrypting at the moment.... and they should freakin leave it like that!!! :mad:
 
Paying so that you can then watch a decrypted signal is ok. What really pisses me off is the clever idea that you can only watch a recording on the device that recorded it. What the...? What if I want to view it over a network? I'm not copying it. Just watching. Amazingly, if you use a XBox to view it over a network, then it's fine. If you use a PC to view it, sorry.
