Hey all,
i am currently un-employed (and loving it) but obviously the new year has popped over and i need to start getting some form of income. I am not too stressed about the exact amount i will be making but let's just it needs to be over R1000 a month :p
Does anyone know of any 'work from home' deals that arent a complete in your face fraud or a kick in the nads waste of time :whistle: I am seriously not too keen heading back to the corporate world for now (the rat race will always be there) so i was actually thinking about looking into the whole work from home option even if it's just for a few months.Can you guys share some stories or if you know any real deals please post them here.

p.s. : pls don't tell me you are an Uzbekistan prince who needs $3 and will reward me later

When I was employable, I just put a Geek 4 Hire ad in my local newspaper and made my spare cash like that - those work from home things are seldom real deals and you anyway work your butt off for nothing.
 
You could work as an affiliate salesman. These are mostly legitimate, but you will need to work hard at getting the sales from home.
 
If you have typing talent you can earn some money as a transcriptionist. There are legitimate work from home companies out there. There are also companies who outsource administration - some people do get by in that way. To get that kind of work though you'd have to do the hard graft yourself - they dont just advertise themselves or they'd be flooded. It would help if you had any kind of previous experience in anything.

Have you seen the rubbish people sell on bid or buy? Anything is possible, its just about marketing it properly. Look at all the people walking around with hologram bracelets :D
 
why not get a part time jobby, and do/learn online skills at home...

...and then in a few months you can be web builder, gfx designer or copywritter
 
Bid or Buy is excellent but it's hard work but you make money every day and the amount of money you make depends on yourself.

I am no longer on Freelancer.com.

The very first employer I had screwed me over. I was expected to check a set of empty folders for documents to check formatting. There were others checking the same folders, so I had to race against my anonymous colleagues like dogs. In three days there were only around 60 documents, of which I was fast enough to catch 16. At $1 for every 10 documents, that means I earned $1.60 in 3 days. There was no way to automatically check the folders (on Box.net). I had to manually go and update each page and make sure I beat the next person to it.

Strangely, I notice Ozio Media has a near perfect record of reviews. Since I didn't even finish the project or pass a milestone I was not able to request a dispute or review the employer. I am not even able to close this Freelancer account since my credit is $5.00 in the red.

I'm not sure what Freelancer is like from the side of the employers, but it is clearly not in the interests of the employee.

Sooner or later people will realize that the Internet is a social place and that you can't screw people and get away with it.

I will not be recommending Freelancer.com, I will be highly suspicious of any employer who uses it, and I will post this dismal story on the gloriously open Internet wherever I possibly can.

Freelancing sites don't benefit by having negative reviews of employers so you get a slanted picture. If someone has some horrendous experience they simply won't let that review poison the whole site. There's no higher authority with freelancing sites, no arbitration from existing political structures that have an interest in your benefit. They are an opportunistic cancer, turning the otherwise amoral Internet into an immoral Internet.

Maybe social networking is evolving enough to find work over the Internet. Then these companies place their reputation on the line, which in our media-cracy is even more effective than judicial intervention.

Until then, I would avoid at all costs. If you must experiment, never pay first.

PayPal is also not immune from this by the way, but it has worked its way into a position of necessity. Freelancing is comparatively a side show.
 
Millions of people are successful each year and you have one bad job one now it's BS site ? Paaaahleeeeezeee
