And of course I lost the buffered show I was watching when I did the inevitable reboot. Worthless piece of **** decoder :mad:. I guess it serves me right for not downloading everything I watch. Oh well, back to the news servers.
 
omg thats insane. phone the callcenter and ask them to explain to you why are getting static over a digital feed. That'll cause a few blue brains of death.
 
As fun as it would be to spend 17 hours explaining the problem to a talking vegetable, and then getting a patronising response saying that, "They take my input very seriously, and that they're working on the problem", I'd rather just cancel my subscription and download everything I watch.

I do wonder where the static came from, though. Was it coded in <facepalm> or is there an analogue hole somewhere on their board?

Good question. Correct me if I am wrong but does this mean that the decoder isn't fully digital?

It can't be - no one in their right mind would 'code in' static; as far as I know you only get "analogue static".
 
My projector does this sometimes on its HDMI feed... (non DSTV)
 
Are you maybe using HDMi over CAT5/6 extenders?

That is the only way that I've ever seen that... I find it hard to believe that the decoder is generating the static, but if it is, I would love to know why.

No, its straight HDMI to the TV. Even with cat 5 extenders, unless they're analogue, why would they produce static? There must be some analogue inside the decoder, because if there was no signal over the HDMI, the TV would display a blue/black screen and wouldn't display the resolution.
