Let me tell you my story sofar for the last month and a bit:

December 6th 2010. Sometime in the afternoon.
Happily playing WoW while chatting on Vent.
Connection died, I rebooted the modem and reconnected. WoW was unable to connect. Vent got stuck on "Contacting Server". I tried eu.battle.net, eu.wowarmory.com nothing.

I figured that if I reboot the entire PC and iBurst modem, all should be happy. Tried it, didnt work.
So I contacted iBurst support. They tried a few things, nothing changed, eventually they just gave up and I lost "connection" on the phone (aka, hang up).

So for the next three days, I try and convince iBurst support that there is nothing wrong on my PC, that nothing has changed between everything working and everything not working.
Eventually, on the 9th December, I managed to convince a support staff to escalate it to Advanced Technical support. I requested to be informed when the ticket is looked at and what the resolution is.

On the 14th December, my connections to worked again. Still no call from anyone at iBurst.
I phoned them up and requested the status of the call, all I was able to get out of them was that the Advance Technical Support team resolved the issue.

All was happy again until the 28th December 2010.
Ventrilo stopped working again.
So I phoned iBurst, gave the same reference number I had for the previous call and told them to get Technical Support to contact me and tell me why this is happening.

Still to this day, no phone call.

30th December 2010. My mail refuses to send via the same method that I have sent my mails for the last 3 years (smtp.iburst.co.za).
So I phone iBurst again, get a new reference number for this call and am told that Technical Support will have a look at it.
While on this call, the Support staff made me change my smtp addresses to the three different servers that iBurst has.
Another one later confirmed to me that he cannot ping smtp.iburst.co.za from his side.

I have deleted and reconfigured my connection.
I have changed DNS setting and removed them again.
I have changed SMTP addresses and reverted them again.
I have installed new versions of Ventrilo and reverted back to my original version. (which btw, can connect to other addresses that are part of the ventriloservers.biz domain)
I have disabled Firewall.
I have disabled and uninstalled my aVast.
Everything works perfectly when using my cellphone to connect.

I have not been phoned back in regards with any of the two calls I currently have at iBurst.
Each time I have phoned them, they tell me that there is nothing wrong and that the fault is on my computer.
To disprove them, I disconnected the iBurst modem and connected to the internet via my cellphone.
Ventrilo works, e-mail sending works (but need to change smtp server to my corporate one. While on iburst, it doesnt allow me to send mails via my corporate one).
Over the last 4 days, all I have gotten from iBurst Advance Technical Support is either a horrible phone connection (which was perfect before being redirected) or they put the phone down in my ears.

Today I phoned in again. Talked to Phenyo. He took both reference numbers and told me he will phone me back in 10 minutes. It is now almost 5 hours later.

So. mister r00igev@@r and all you other iBurst helpers, your Advance Technical Support team SUCKS. Plain and simple. They have a mentality that nothing is ever wrong on their side, that users are incompetent and know nothing.

FYI:
Reference number for the first call: 322 144 (This is the vent query)
Reference number for the second call: 338 258 (This is the email query)
Addresses unable to connect to:
am.ventriloservers.biz
www.ventriloservers.biz (this will open) -> Click on the Log in link to right and the connection will just time out.

While making this post, I got a phone call regarding a Web Query that I posted think on Tuesday. He confirmed that the addresses are not responding to pings and he will have a look at it and it might only be resolved by tomorrow.

So now I wonder, how many other websites, connections and protocols are not working on the iBurst network. This all seems to have started once you switched your (think) upstream provider in the start of December. The one where the Seacom cable died the next day and we had problems with iBurst for the next week or so.

I also still have issues with connectivity to certain sites, protocols, etc. which no one has been able to resolve up to date.

So last night, I came home and started up my ventrilo. I had to buy a little 10m server from ventriloservers.biz, but hosted in Sweden so that I can actually lead the 10m raid of last night. But since I still have my original vent info as default, it tried to connect to it.
I wait to see if it actually want to connect and low and behold "Server available. Press Connect" o.O
So I connect and everything works fine, no high latency or anything, until about 15mins later.
Vent disconnects, but all other internet works fine. Initial message on vent is again "Contacting Server". Couple of seconds later, I can connect to the server again.
This happens about 3 or 4 times last night. Connect, DC, Connect, DC, etc. Until it finally broke for the last time and I was not able to connect to my original server (the am. one) for the rest of the night.
But I was able to raid lead on the server hosted in Sweden.
So from my side, I think someone fiddled with setting at iBurst last night. Which would be weird since the Technical Advance Supports leaves the offices at 16:50 (this I concluded from previous phone calls).

Yesterday I requested a co-worker to bring her iBurst modem for me to test on, today.
First off, I test with my connection directly connected to my laptop via network cable. No connection to before mentioned sites/protocols.
Now I replace my modem with hers, setup the connection on the same way mine is setup. Everything works. I can connect to the sites, use vent etc.

So this leads me to believe this is per account specific.
As stated by the others, each one has certain sites they cannot access for some reason.

Think someone is having the time of his/her life with our accounts......

Maybe your hardware is damaged? I would suggest you try your username on her device but devices are account locked so we can't even check that way.

No offence eltherza, but that reply sounds like an iBurst reply.
How would hardware damage result in specific websites/protocol not working suddenly.
Then also magically allow that connection and also disallow that connection.
If this was a hardware problem, there would me a lot more occurrences of this and it would be me and only me.
But since other users are experiencing the same issue, I highly doubt that this is a hardware issue.

Offence taken... ish.

Anyway, moving on. I remember long long ago that 15GB accounts where "less shaped" or something. So iBurst can quite possibly target accounts for shaping, not sure if they still do that kind of thing.

Ps. Have you checked your MTU settings? <joking!>

Hi Drag0nsAng3,

I have picked this up and am looking at the problem. am.ventriloservers.biz is one server, what is the other one?

First Query:
am.ventriloservers.biz (ventrilo server)
https://www.ventriloservers.biz/ventrilo/?_page=account:login_small

Second Query:
smtp.iburst.co.za (and the other two smtp servers that iBurst have)
krs dot mail dot co dot za

While trying to get the second url, it did not time out anymore.
Also the ventrilo server is now connecting.

I would like to know what was the problem and it should also be noted to your support staff.
I do not wish to wait weeks again if this problem comes up again.

I've got the same problem, can't send my mail via iBurst anymore.

So on Friday afternoon, my ventrilo was not working again (the am.ventriloservers.biz)
So a whole weekend without proper communication.

This is really irritating that a problem that has been solved before, is taking more than a week to be resolved again.

I am monitoring this server here are the results: http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php?photo=20641&cat=1045 The server does occasionally stop responding while the path to the server is still active. What I suggest you do is log a call with the server owner and ask them to verify that they can correctly route back to your address (or they can use 196.2.97.165 as a test)

Here is the route:

Just one question before I do that: Why should they do it if no one else that is using that server is having the same problems and at the same time, I can connect to a temporary server I bought from the same company hosted at sweden.ventriloservers.biz?

Same company but they use different IP transits and service providers. What I want to know is if they use the same route back to us which makes a difference on voice apps.

So, tonight, its all back to square 1.
Vent aint connecting to any server.
Skype aint connecting.
Wow aint connecting.
http://eu.battle.net aint opening ("The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.").
Nada.

Seriously... did your servers just burn down again or what?
This is really getting ridiculous.

Did this happen after midnight? There are power reconfigurations occurring on the submarine cables in the Mediterrean and redundant paths are kicking in. I have tested the site fine.

Yupe, it did happen after midnight.
The site is still not opening (same message as before) and the other apps are also not connecting.
