MyWireless takes on Vodacom and MTN 3G

Unfortunately not available in PE - same with iBurst. Do we smell or something?
 
They're probably scared their towers will blow away.. PE is like one big wind tunnel :)
 
so, its still not affordable, right? if it can compete with ADSL while still offering a lot of traffic (even if only local) then i would love to get this.

Hmmm 64kbps? That's a 512KB/s connection. Funny how that's also the highest speed that mywireless offers.
Well it's quite funny that this speed that's so low is also the highest that sentech offers.

Got it the wrong way around .... 64Kbps = 8KBps ... difference, big "B" for bytes, little "b" for bits ... 8 bits = 1 byte
 
64k upload is what 3g users are getting now.It looks like Mr Smith never heard of HSUPA.HSUPA increases the upload speed and HSDPA increases the download speed.HSUPA will be rolled out on UMTS networks when HSDPA is out
 
The Sentech network as it has been these last two days is an absolute shambles. Not the time to have a press release. - see mywireless forum.

No offense, but have you ever driven into PE from East London? There's something about the smell as you begin to see PE (near the salt pans / coega)? Just made me think... :-)
 
I live in East London and find it stupid for Sentech and iBurst all to be competing for the same bit of Gauteng turf, when the rest of the country is a huge market waiting for some scraps to be thrown to it. I bet that they even erect their towers next to each other. It's nuts. Here I am with a fist full of cash and no broadband to spend it on.

OK - so that part smells. :rolleyes: but I'm downwind from that area! Where's our iBurst and My Wireless?

From what I've heard from Vodacom, there will be lag between the deployment of HSDPA and HSUPA ... not sure how long? So for a time you will have the rather funky situation of up to 2048Kbps dl & 64 kbps ul.

Maybe ask Vodacom3g to clarify in the Vodacom forum.

They'll take your fistfull of cash and you still won't have any broadband. No comment on ST's erec***** though :)
 
The high cost of international bandwidth is the only factor that prevents Sentech from doing so.

So why don't they some high speed local content and make a showcase out of it? Surely they can put up some proxy servers?

If i could download streaming video content (local) on my connection i would be mightily impressed by sentech. In fact, it's probably the best marketing trick out there at the moment...
