Does anybody have recordings of the Scientology ads that are showing on National Geographic? Scientology is a dangerous cult, publicly partaking in the practices of brainwashing and "Disconnection" (separating members from society). I plan on launching a campaign against these advertisements, but I need recordings.

Good luck with that.

While you are at it, could you complain about following too - similarly, I imagine these people paid to advertise just as much as the Scientologists did:

1) All Flight Centre Adverts advertising flights to the Middle East - That's a dangerous place, with people publicly partaking in beaheadings, stonings and production of weapons of mass destruction
2) All McDonalds Advertising - McDonalds are a dangerous compant, I am positive their advertising and use of the clown is a practice of brainwashing, and by eating at their restaurants on the sly at lunch, I am disconnected from the office gossip in the canteen.
3) Any and all Cybersmart radio advertising - they are most definately a dangerous cult, hell bent on producing the worst radio ad's ever flighted on public radio. This also is a practice of brainwashing, well, more not really, but its really really bad.
4) All Teasers Billboards: Teasers is a dangerous strip bar, they publicly partake in practices of boobwashing (that's a great show btw), and I am often disconnected from around R1000 just before i leave the club. Please look into this, but really, its not that urgent, if you know what i mean.

Let me know how this goes for you.

I understand what you trying to say, but what is the point of this sarcastic post.

He's asking a valid question so a simple answer would suffice

There is no sarcasm in that post.

This is not the thread you were looking for...<waves hand>

HTC_guy is right. Simple question. No need for you to go on a crusade about it luxe.

There is actually another thread about this on the same topic.

Yeah, I cancelled my DSTV because of it. I even contacted Multichoice, and they basically told me they are only interested in Scientologies money, and dont care about the content. Will not touch that network with a barge poll ever again. They might as well advertise books on how to rape children or murder your family. There is a line, and Multichoice crossed it.

Scientology are intentionally targeting advertising on channels like National Geographic. They do this insidiously to try associate the term "scientology" with "science". Dirty evil fks.

What I havent tried is to contact National Geographic and complain about the adverts.

I don't think it makes sense to cancel your DSTV subscription because of it. I'm just looking for the recordings so I can check whether there's anything in them that does not comply with the ASA code of conduct.

Lol - crusade, that was funny.

I think we could equally equate your vendetta against Scientology (who I couldnt care for) as a Crusade.

Understand this, advertising that is paid for, and passes ASA Guidelines will not be pulled off the air because you read something somewhere about someone at one time. Without those advertisers, that channel you were watching would not exist.

And DTSV allocated adverts based on customers channel requests, the owners of National Geographic UK / US / Whatever "rent" the programming to DSTV,and DSTV creates the channel, so complaining there wont work either.

I find it interesting how you defend scientology so much. Fair game much?

For someone who has dealt with mothers and families that have lost their kids to scientology, and for someone who is fully aware of how fked up its leader "Slappy" Miscavage is, I dont take comments like yours seriously as I know you are just lacking perspective on the topic. I personally cant handle the disconnects done to families, and I cant handle the abuse at the SeaOrg. You might be able to, but I cant.

Of course it will. More people talking about the topic means more people are aware of how evil scientology is. Im ganna email NG and see how they react to this. I know they do have say about what adverts can run on their channel.

luxe, the maliciousness of Scientology to society is a fact. You are like one of those people that get angry when you talk about the *fact* of evolution.

Luxe=scientologist? according to Scientology he is allowed to use `Fair Game` on us. he is allowed to lie to us.

Rofl, unfortunately I am no Scientologist, although that would have made the thread far more interesting.

I do however firmly believe in Evolution, but thanks psichron. How WILL you cope now that you can't put me in your little stereotype box! OMG!

Wizard - fair play, I haven't seen the effects of Scientology, my experience goes as far as reading Dianetics and thinking it was rubbish. My response to the thread however is no less meaningful. You are allowed to complain about a Scientology advert, and I am allowed to mock the fruitlessness of your actions. That's the way it works.

When I saw this advertisement, I have to say, I was rather unsettled. I dont mean to be ugly, but scientology is a freaky "religion" and the fact that they are advertising (with the purpose of recruiting people I would assume) I find very scary. No religion should be allowed to advertise on TV channels. I am rather dissapointed in NG regarding this.

luxe, rest assured that I made no assumption about your beliefs on evolution. I merely pointed out that your reaction to scientology is similar to a creationist's reaction to evolution and nothing more. I'm not sure that is stereotyping, but if it is I apoligise.

I am allowed to mock the fruitlessness of your actions. That's the way it works.

Indeed, some creationists actually mock science. Ridiculous, but I guess they don't see the irony of their actions.
