ISPA challenges Telkom's ADSL cap

the Internet Service Provider Association of SA (ISPA) plans to challenge Telkom over the introduction of an ADSL hard cap.

ISPA says it will meet with Telkom to discuss the telecommunication provider's introduction of a per-gigabyte billing system and hard cap for its ADSL offering.

Hmmm. If DOTCO gets a court order, then Telkom won't be allowed to implement on 1/11

I must state that while I agree with what ISPA and DOTCO have done, its a little late, this should have been done months ago, everyone knew that it was going to happen !

I think that it's significant that telkomsa have done nothing to inform their clients that as of 1/11 the rules are changing.

I strongly suspect that comes 1/11 Telkom will announce a stay of execution if ISP's play by their rules and threaten to implement should they not.

Well at least we're seeing ISP resistance to Telscum...previously we've seen no such thing.

I'm betting on Nov 1 Telkoming announcing price cuts:

"3Gb/ month now only R200/month down from R250!"

and introducing their new

"Ultra high cap 5Gb account for only R350 a month!"

if you think bout it. Telkom hinted at the changes for a while now but there hasn't been any hard communications until very recently. This put the isp's in a fix because they can't take action against telkom with just hearsay.
Now that the **** has made it known publicly that it's gonna go ahead with the price change now they can only start taking telkum to court.

That's the big thing. How can any self respecting ISP that sold a 30gb account not be taking telkom to court. Basically telkom just told em. Nope you are lying to your customers and therefore we will make sure that you can never do so again.
Meanwhile back in RL it's telkom that's backtracking on an agreement that it made with the ISP's.

What the hell can you even still call it adsl considering what the fsckers are doing with it? Capping, Port prioritisation, slow speed, Internetnational and local cut off after cap? wtf? is there nobody in the DOC or ICASA with the metal between their pants to stand up to this blatent in your face sodomisation of the south african public.

It just amazes me how the telkum spin doctors are able to do twist words like this. Has anybody noticed that it's precisely the same set of words being reiterated by them from the start of the whole 1st Nov debacle? They spin it so many times that soon ppl are gonna start actually believing wtf their saying.

Also one little point on this. They state that it's the isp's responsibility or mandate on how to handle bandwidth exceeders. No company can provide unlimited access because of the sharply escalating costs of our bandwidth.



Come on how many other places in the world where adsl is available is anybody being so blatantly raped to charge R1800 plus for 30gb access?

Grow up DOC, ICASA. Grow some hair on ure chest and make like you got metal down there. Stop this FSCKED up raping company from doing this to us.

Spin doctors everywhere. Maybe the ADSL users must get some as well and the two sets of spin doctors could spin webs around ICASA, the courts and Parliament forever with injunctions, counter-injunctions and stays of execution while we carry on to download the entire internet and start laying some cables to have true local mirroring without Telkom's greedy paw prints on it.
