Nvida 8800gt has a resolution Problem when I update my firmware

Hi
I had my 8800gt for at 2 years now. I had a Windows XP that time and it ran smooth, till I updated the firmware of it and the resolution drop to 800*600 and the color is 16bit. I can do nothing about it and thought I will just install Windows7 this year and hope the problem will go away, but it still give the same problem all though i update the firm ware on Windows7.

I need help to fix this problem.
 
Sound like you probably flashed the bios of your graphics card with the wrong thing.

Generally you should stay away from bios flashing, except in certain situations (such as making turning your 6950 into a 6970).

If it is the bios version that have been changed. The only way to change that back, is to use the program called NIBITOR (nVidia Bios Editor). How will I know whats the Default bios version?

I never flashed my card, after the time I bought it. The card was running on (forceware 175.16) and it ran fine till I updated it to (Forceware 260.99)

Those are drivers. Not bios versions.

Drivers don't (generally) kill graphics cards. Chances are your card has some other hardware fault that is causing this problem. If you can, try the card in another computer and see if it does the same thing. If it does then you know it's the graphics card and you'll just have to buy a new one.
 
I have tried the card on another computer and done the same. I also think its the graphics card. but I thought that someone could just help me out. Thanks a lot. I'm running at the moment with a 9400GT
