FIFA 11 on 160gb ps3 stuttering

Please help i have had my Ps3 for about 6months and the game for the same amount of time.About 2 months ago it just started stuttering perhaps thrice or 4 times a game particularly in career mode.
It has gotten so bad lately that the game is virtually impossible to play....
Please help !!

My wife's couzin also experiencing the same thing. He has a 250(I think)GB console. The 'stuttering' is not so bad on his side though, happens once, maybe twice in a game of 4mins a half.

His copy of Fifa 11 plays without issues in my console though.

I thought it was firmware related - and still think it is firmware related.

He has custom firmware (3.55) on his console now, which was originally shipped with 3.42 and I run fw 3.50 which was shipped with console
 
Hi Guys

I got a 320GB (slimeline) PS3 for myself and my Fifa also stuttered. I did everything everyone suggested with no luck. I then took the PS3 back to Makro and they replaced it. The new unit is 100% fine and no more stuttering. If your unit is still under warranty go and replace it as its more than likely a PS3 issue.

In my wife's couzin's case, his PS is jailbroken, so I guess it's bye bye warranty...?
