If you're a Gautenger, before you throw away your free copy of NOVA turn to page 9. Article about Telkom raising prices, bit about DotCo's case

From tomorrow, customers of the independents will get the plug pulled the moment they exceed their bandwidth limit, whereas TelkomInternet customers can continue to surf at slower speeds

Not 100% factual (but what news article is?) but definately a blow to Telkom again. If they're trying to improve their image they're definately not doing a good job ;)

Unfortunately I don't have a scanner, and my attempts at taking a photo with my DC don't seem to be succeeding. Anyone wanna take the opportunity to post?

This is brazen abuse by Telkom of their monopoly: "whereas TelkomInternet customers can continue to surf at slower speeds". Where is ICASA? Nowhere to be found. Says all we need to know about ICASA ...

How does the DSL 2GByte monthly volume cap work?
The 2Gbyte Internet service available from most Internet Service Providers (ISP's) measures your local, international up and download usage and once the 2Gbyte cap is reached your DSL access will terminate which means you will no longer be able to access the Internet on an DSL connection until the reset at the beginning of the following month or until you purchase an additional username from your preferred ISP.

How does the DSL 3GByte monthly volume cap work?
Once you have exceeded the 3 GByte cap your data will be transported over a restricted international link for the remainder of that month. Telkom will not cut the service or bill for additional usage however the restriction becomes worse towards the end of the month when the customers that do reach their 3 Gigabyte Cap contend for the same restricted bandwidth. The counter is re-set at the beginning of each month. Local traffic is not affected. Telkom are however looking at ways of redesigning the capping system to optimise user satisfaction.

It is strange that November 1st 2005 are here and Telkom stil advertise local traffic not affected in their Packages on their website !!!!! Something really fishsy ????? Like Siembambaa said : " Where is ICASA?" Another planet ?
