That is really amazing news. What would interest me however, is what percentage of those were the TV shows, what percentage were Pixar shorts and what percentage were Music videos
 
It's common sense - offer downloads at a reasonable price through a convenient distributor without the need for people to feel that they are getting their hands dirty with illegal content, and you have a winner !

Don't forget, the people with money don't like getting their hands dirty.

In terms of filthy lucre and social trends, it's comparable to going to a dodgy street corner to get your illicit drugs, or having them delivered to the door by a smart person on a scooter.

Same concept, well, almost - one is still illegal :D
 
No **** Sherlock! Can they be that surprised at the demand for digital content???? We are however still stuck in a situation here where if such services were to be allowed to prolifirate across the ZA net it will have to be with Telkom as a partner ala the Multichoice and Telkom deal recently. :(

Access to bandwidth in this country is so restrictive that opportunities for the small guy is so limited that it warrants a new definition in the dictionary for the word "limited"...

I agree. The demand for digital content is obvious. All that's needed is decent telecoms costs, a service that is fast enough to download this content at reasonable speeds and consumers will flock to that offering. It doesn't take much of a rocket scientist to figure out that this is a winning combination.

But in SA... well, things are different. Profit comes before common sense.
 
I have not checked in a while but is there any way for us to buy through Itunes yet? Only way so far is to get a Itunes card which is a pain. Maybe one day :(

just one more ligitimet use of the internet that will put one way over 3gb !
 
...very interesting indeed...everything (almost) is digital these days and the content is growing daily - just wish the powers-that-be could see how they are stiffling what broadband should be...

3gb limit, pah! - imagine what would happen when the internet is suddenly saturated by legal and legitimate video/audio download sites - limit reached in 2 hours... :D
 
Better to not support iTunes. Don't give money towards draconian restrictions mafia.
