I need some advice

I'm currently on a 384 line with closer option 2. my isp is openweb and i'm on their gold 384 account.

All together (with calls) my total cost is about R500 to R600 per month depending on the calls ofcourse

the 384 line sucks to be honest and i require more speed basically for downloads

i want to upgrade to a 4mb line uncapped or even after hours uncapped\unshaped (if that even exists) what are my options ? pricewise the cheapest please :D

i'm looking for the total cost including line rental etc is it possible to get what i want for under 1k ? (actually perfect price would be around R800) i dont mind a capped account either but the cap needs to be around 30 to 40gb minimum.

what do you guys suggest ?

capped 50gb is about 475 and 413 rental, but with 4mb you want uncapped :P

so mweb R900 , openweb gold , 738 + 413.

that's is your best uncapped choices if ask me :)

I've sent you a PM.
Let me know if you require a test account - I might also be able to offer you a custom account or better price ;)

@ryu i'm in the same boat too. currently with mweb R219+152+131=R500 and get about +-40GB-50GB
downloads are too slow and streaming is a disgrace. does not have to be uncapped, but a cap of about 50GB-100GB will suffice for my needs.
4meg line adsl rental + analogue gives you =R550 without any cap. would like to start off with a 50GB account.
whose is combined the best in price and speed of the ISP's.
would sacrifice a bit on cap for a really good price

i'm on openweb gold 384 but i hardly ever get above 20kbps even after hours :( i'm on the turbo network now so lets hope things improve.

Im sure you will love it. I was on turbo before I upgraded to 4Mbps and it suited me really well

is that 20kps on torrent or http downloads?

good seeded local torrents. when i switch to afrihost i get line speed but never with my gold account even after hours, not sure whats wrong with it. maybe this new turbo will sort it out but so far it seems the same.

dont want to sound ungratefull but i dont even get 20kbps i'll be happy with 20 but at the moment i'm ave around < 5kbps on local torrents which i think is very slow

i phoned their support centre today to confirm what product i'm on :D they said they will call me back.
i signed up in november last year when they had there special for R245 on 384 gold. i had an obsurd theory that maybe i'm on the wrong product like their standard uncapped instead of the gold... hey i'm clutching at straws here but i'm desperate.

Yeah I'm on the 384k uncapped unshaped (R499) with mweb. I manage to do around 88GB (in total i.e. Upload + Download) p/m. Speed varies between 30 and 35 KBps 24/7.
Total cost = approx. R815 p/m which is rather excessive imo.

I'd also like to move to a 4meg line uncapped but from what I've read on this forum, the shaping is pretty excessive most of the day. I'm also not interested in using 3 party service providers or applications to 'unshape' my downloads. If I could get around say 100GB p/m on a 4meg line and in total pay approx. R800 p/m, I'd be happy.

@ Reuben@TRLTech and WAJeff: please pm me as well if you think you could 'help' me out.

seems like a lot of us are in the same boat :)

Can Reuben@TRLTech and WAJeff please just post the pm's here for all of us to get the details :)
or if u still want to do the pm thing... then pm me too :D

R800 all inclusive is the sweet spot for me .... also would not do more than 80GB a month ...
currently on get about half that with the 384k line :(
