Last month I have signed up for afrihost 384 uncapped. Had no real problems and with the start of Feb everything was still going good untill now.

I recently recieved a email that I have to change my username to a IS.Afrihost account since "It will suit my usage better". I have no choice in this as my first username will become invalid in a few days. So how much have I used so far?

In January about 23GB. Since the start of Feb - 3GB.

I agree that the usage for the 2 days in feb 3GB is pretty high and this is because im downloading a online game. Other users in the house have been playing facebooks games and so on.

So supposable 3GB in two days, or 23GB a month is high usage. This feel's a bit like bull to me.

What does the IS account mean? Well as far as I can see is that if I am above 50% of the average user (No facts about what that amount is, so basicly they can do it whenever) i am going be shaped like nuts, and if it stays above 50%, i am going to be shaped even more to hell.

So before signing up for Afrihost, be sure you understand what your going in for.

Didn't you read the terms of service or Fair use policy (FUP) before signing up? But I agree.. just jump ship to some one else... I'm still happy with my mweb uncapped, been with them since the release...

Same with me, been with mweb since the uncapped launch.

I would also recommend grabbing yourself either Mweb or an Openweb Gold account, as hereticangel suggested.

Yea, considering big time to switch to Mweb now. No one seem to really complain to badly about them.

About me reading the Fair Use Policy, nowhere do they say exactly how much your allowed to use. Its always the generic answer of "If you have high usage" or "if your above this amount of percentage that average users use"... I have emailed several times and I never get a reply on the exact amount your allowed to use. Maybe its just me, but that give way to many ISP's to much freedom to throttle/shape when they want to.

I think if they give you a 'limit', people would feel that they are capped on an uncapped product...

Personally I wouldn't consider afrihost for an uncapped product with their current offerings.. Although their capped products are still one of the best.

Agreed, it would feel more like a capped account then... but now you don't have a clue when you will be hit in the head with a rock and a attached note "No more nice internet for you! We shape/throttle now!".
I heard their capped offerings ain't bad, but I think I will go with Mweb uncapped next.

One should do one's homework before signing up, rather than after.

Just move to a less lame ISP. Openweb Gold is excellent.
