World of Warcraft and Iburst

Hi, I am leasing an apartment for 6-12 months and am looking at internet access so that I can continue playing WOW! Can I play WOW over an iburst connection and if so, must a use a service like openweb? Should I just get an unshaped ADSL account, but how long does it take to install?
 
No idea how Iburst runs Int Gaming, but if its good then go for it over Shaftkoms DSL /spit

DSL will take on avg 2 months to install, again i dunno how long for Iburst.

I am gonna be signing up with Nukecap Lowping VPN this weekend, and supposedly that makes Int gaming run like a dream. ( www.nukecap.co.za )

Clipse(Nukecap) often post here , so will give you a better idea
Unshaped i tried with WoW...its too wobbly....400ms.....800ms....1200ms....500ms...etc etc :)

If you want a decent latency but happy to dial in after 7pm, why not go for ISDN?

There are three people on my network that play WoW using one iBurst connection.

Runs without problems most of the time. There've been some problems this week, but that's apparently WoW related.

Works well.
 
TheYak how do they play ? Via Nukecap?

Interested to know latency they get. Not heard of WoW latency issues however :(

Nope. Just straight on iBurst - no fancy things. Get between 700 and 1000ms pings and we VERY rarely lag.

That's why I'm sure that it'd work on ADSL, 'cos surely the latency on a (wired) ADSL line should be TONS better than that of a wireless connection? I get HORRID packet loss on a ping via iBurst... it's annoying. But I can still play WoW with very few problems.

Thats true, ADSL is better than Iburst in general, but not good enough for alot of people.

As you said, 700-1000ms is good enough for you, I can tell you that everyone signing up with our lowping vpn is the kind of user who wouldnt stand for 1000ms, not to mention packetloss :p
 
I'm using iBurst to play WoW.

On good days I get 380-500ms pings, but usually about 600-700ms response.

It is reasonably playable.

ok iburst connection gone to pot again :mad: they're about as consistent a bad jelly :eek: .

Latency on WoW has been up down more often than a hookers pants !!!
 
Yeah seems like the only real way to go for the Latency issues is ADSL
 
No issues connecting to our local lowping vpn for Iburst users.
 
Where would the issues be based then I would have thought that most of it would be between modem and tower.

Is your local latency also screwed up? Thought its just your international latency?
