Not exactly ADSL related, but seeing how we are all net whores, some of you will be happy to know that a new v1.5rc1 of Firefox has been released.

v1.5rc1 means
The version is 1.5 and it is release candidate 1. i.e it is still in development but is very close to the final product as it has exited the bet phase of development. There are usually a max of 2 release candidated before a final product is release.

IF you are going to be using a browser other than FireFox or IE (gasp), you should probably be using netscape as it uses either the firefox or IE engines to render pages (IE only used on trusted sites, when you tell it to). The new netscape even looks nice (Not that I use it.... I'm still using firefox 1.0.7, and am probably gonna give 1.5 a try when I get home and download it)

Spratch is an expressive acoustic punk rock band. The Cape Town-based group was formed in July 2004 and has just released their Sampler Album. Download it here: http://rapidshare.de/files/5780556/S...mpler.exe.html
Got to preserve the bandwith dude... its like gold at the moment

Just be careful if you _need_ to print from websites. I'm using it too and I've had some problems where there weren't any with 1.0.7. Specifically, Iv'e had it only print 1st X pages out of Y. Preview is fine, but print to actual printer messes up. I've got around it by printing to a PDF, then printing that :)
It only seems to affect some sites though.

Hope you submitted a bug report so it can be fixed by the time the final release comes out.

Looked around on bugzilla and it seems to be a known issue. If it it still a problem in rc2 then I'll probably send an email to the printing core along with a couple of sites. Don't want to bug them too much now for what looks like no reason (i.e. they already know about it) :).
Would rather they hurry up and get the thing out than spend time chasing down duplicate bugs...

The major difference for me is that going back and forward through pages is much faster. I think svg and css3 has also more support. Still using beta2 though, I'll wait for the final version ;)

Yesterday I found Gimpshop..based on Gimp 2.2 but with a more 'Photoshoppy' user interface. As a Photoshop user, this will make the gimp a much better proggy to use at home. And ethically, it's better than using a *cracked* PS...not that I would...:)

fwiw I use FF primarily, Opera some of the time, and Maxthon when I have to access sites that only render in IE. I keep all three updated (via dialup. No traffic worries!)
Opera has its benefits but you can't do anything about its drawbacks: too many sites don't render well enough; and it doesn't support extensions like FF.
The only gripe I have about FF is hogging memory.

I tried FF once, but did not like the interface much, I love opera, especially its caching feature, and in this day and age of expensive bandwidth, I need cache that kicks ass

What's better about Opera's caching than IE's or Firefox's? They all do caching.

Well they try to cache most items on a page and the page itself, but almost never do they get it right, and usuaully only 1 or 2 pages back, except opera, I have gone back 10 pages without having to pull anything from the net
