Telecoms firms agree to cut the cost of phone calls and internet access

dude. telkom IS the govt. ICASA IS the govt. ASA IS the govt.

etc.

there's nothing we can do :(

the only person that can do something about this is the president himself. if he really wants to drop telecoms prices, he should insist on eliminating conflict of interest - first by GVT selling their telkom shares, and then by having an independent regulator who doesn't need the ministers signature of approval for everything. either that or spot a common denominator thats causing all this k@k - replace Ivy with someone who truely knows what they doing, and aware of what's currently happening. not some idiot who wasn't aware of telecoms prices because she doesnt need to pay her bills

It is not thorny at all! All we need is a president with balls and a minister of communication with guts!

Stand up once and for all and open the markets to competition! OPEN COMPETITION WITH NO RESTRICTIONS!!!!!

Its makes me sick.... I know we are in Africa, but even the bushman that live in the Kalahari that have NO concept of time... can not understand why the hell this is talking so long.

Does anyone have the president or ivy's email address, Ive got a few words to share with them. Who cares if they intercept the email... I doubt they will have bandwith to do anything about it.

Another pissed South African

Can't you all see the obvious...

Here is a transcript of the negotiations:
Gov: Come on guys we have to give the people something.
Telkom: But what about our profits?
ICASA: and our kick back?
Da Boss Man: OK I tell what, you are over charging by 500%, Ivy will protect you for another 2 years if you will drop your prices by 20%. Then the government looks like heroes and you get to keep raping the nation for us, OK?

At lease the system is transparent. :(
