Hi everyone

Does anyone know if SAIX or the ISP controls how long it takes to reset your connection with this new system? I'm with Axxess and i've noticed my link dropping every 2 hours (almost to the second), whilst before these changes my connection only dropped every 24 hours.

IP sessions with WebAfrica are still 24 hours

From 1 Nov SAIX give the ISPs the choice to choose what IP session length they want.

If Axxess IP sessions are 2 hours then I will definitively never use them as my ISP.

Off topic but can anyone explain how it is possible that I read AdLo's reply before posting mine but my post seems to have moved up the thread and is now shown as post "2"

Sorry, I deleted and created it again just as you posted. Hence the same time: 3:11.

Thanks AdLo, I was just a bit confused

Yup just noticed it.. so i was busy downloading something and bam it went off. WTF. i am sooooooooooooo pissed cause this means that if a download takes about 45 minutes and i download at the wrong time without a downloadmanager which you sometimes have to it f$#%$# up and then i must spend more bandwidth downloading it again and hope i don't get disconnected.. i just wasted 23MB today.. i'm guessing people are gonna be complaining like hell to telkom without realising its axxess droppng them. Initially i thought i lost link till i saw my synch remained perfect. :( now i'm definately moving from this isp.

So much for a 24/7 internet connection. It cant be two hours, there must be a fault somewhere... it just doesnt make sense??? It would make irc, instant messaging, audio/video streaming, etc so irritating as you hav to reconnect every 2hours.. if this is the choice axxess has made, they will loose so many customers. Again, i hope its a fault somewhere.

On a slightly different note, any info on IS connection resets?

You can flame me for this I don't care. But I say axxess can go screw themselves as well. Wtf???? Killing the connection after 2 hours??? They belong in the same sh*thole as Telkom if this is their way of handling the new changes.

If it is so easy for a user to go over his limit and this is the kind of tactics that an ISP needs to use to make sure the user doesn't score some megabytes, then the whole system fcking sux and they need to go back to the drawing board. I hate incompetent people and yet there are so many of them.

I just noticed it this morning.. gonna watch it here's a screenshot from that utility thing.

Yip, I will vouch for the 2 hour disconnects

yup mine shows it started at about 18h00 yesterday.

Anyone from axxess post in these forums? Man I would like to give that guy a fist full of nuckels for breakfast. I don't even have an axxess account and this is ticking me off.

Smilies are On
[IMG] code is Off
HTML code is Off

becuase its turnoff thats y..save bandwithd , lol , so it does not have 2 frtch the thumbnail

ah ok.. anyways this is anoying.. i dot disconnected again xcept this time the usual problem with axxess authentication stuck its ugly head up and had to reconnect to guest acc and then back to axxess. man this blows. imagine i'm playing a game and then boop, you are down again.

Has anybody had response from Axxess as to why this is happening? I sent an e-mail this morning with no reply yet.

they r doing that so they do not have 2 pay any extra bandwithd used after your cap,

so if still got 14hr left 2 reset and u have done 2.9gig of 3gig account.
u still b able 2 download a lot more until reset. as soon a the reset happen thats when the data transfer amount gets calulated into the accounting data on the radius server...

so sooner the reset less data u can d/l after the cap is up...
so they don't have pay for what u used extra..becuase u only ment 2 have 3gig account.

To all ISP's

Telkom maintains that you do not have to disconnect us and it seems that you do it to monitor our traffic. However it is silly to disconnect someone every two hours if he still has 3gbytes to go to his cap. Even at 1024 full speed I gues the following is true:

100 kilobytes/second=6mbytes per minute=360 mbytes per hour
Thus to download 2 gigabytes you will need six hours. So do the disconnecting according to gigabytes to go at least.

By the way this above calculation once again shows what a farce the 3 gigabyte limit really is

why not just set according when the user gets 2 within 80% of bandwidth ? This is f@#$ing annoying. i play a game and then i drop link, i also have to reconnect some times with msn and the router last time too. Mebbe i should send an email too.
