Vans accuse Telkom of stalling interconnection

teklom will delay everything to the best of their ability and to the depth of their legal funding - will be a fact of life for some time to come

simple math - 1 million in legal fees per year vs additional revenue from no allowing the VoIP operators to play in the local market = no brainer

I wonder if they realise that they probably have the worst amount of publicitiy out there in za.
I mean there is almost not a day that you don't hear from them or about them. Them trying to extinguish the flames and us flaming em.
 
When you are worth R50bn, and you operate in a protected enviroment, you quite frankly dont have to give a rats ass what the public thinks, just blab out some spin (irrespective of how flimsy it is) and continue banking the cheques, its not as though the public has a choice or as if the government is your enemy, hell they own 38% of you so they are your mates.
 
Isn't there a way that the VAN's could use Poison Ivy's recently signed bill to take Telkom to court?
 
Just shows how the government dug their own, TELKOM sponsored, grave. They have no power over Telkom. Telkom does what they want to with impunity. The government should think seriously what they have to do with TELKOM. They start looking like sheep, issue useless numbers as not only can they not be used, once that hurdle is overcome (in a few years) Telkom will still block the use with their control off data shaping as they now do with Skype. There is no legislation on this as Telkom owns the data on their network. Government have no choice. They will have to clip the TELKOM wings to succeed. Remove the exclusive rights of infrastructure and the SAT cable and if they groan threaten them with removal of their license as they have done with the ADSL line rental debacle

Yeah - what we need is a SNO and a SNG - second national government.
