Description:
Purpose of the Job:
• Support a highly customized Oracle Retail Merchandising System 10.x (ORMS) installation.
• The candidate will work closely with client Functional Analysis team and Business users.
Main Responsibilities/Tasks:
• Analyse logged Software Investigation Requests; define and document technical resolution; manage the SIR through to delivery of the solution.
• Perform impact analysis for new business requirements; offer solution alternatives; estimate work effort; define and document technical solution; manage the requirement through to delivery of the solution.
• Perform after hours Batch Standby on a rotating schedule. Represent the Unit at daily client review forums. Manage incidents to resolution.
• Perform Coding and Testing. Participate in Peer and QA Reviews.
• Report on own and subordinates delivery.
• Proactive highlighting of risks and issues
Other Features of the Job: (e.g., location, travelling, shift hours, etc.):
• Cape Town
• Standard Business hours as well as scheduled after hours Batch Support
• No Travel
Requirements:
Knowledge & Skills:
• Soft Skills:
o Strong technical and problem solving capabilities accompanied by strong verbal and written skills
o Team orientated – accustomed to working in a collaborative environment
o Able to Multi-task in a pressured delivery focused environment
o Quality and process oriented – preferably involved on a project employing ITIL
o Takes ownership
o Passionate about delivery
• Tech Skills:
o Strong technical knowledge & understanding of Oracle Development tools – SQL / PL/SQL, Forms (Required)
o Oracle Retail Merchandising System 10.x (ORMS) – previously Retek (Highly Desired)
o Oracle Performance Tuning (Desired)
o Unix (Beneficial)
Education, Qualifications, Experience Necessary:
• Industry – Retail (Desired)
• At least 3 years IT work experience in an technical capacity (Required)
• IT relevant University Qualification (Required)
• Strong analytical and technical design skills (Required)
