All u people who wanna cancel your ADSL, think twise before doing so...Telscum fig. that everyone is cancelling which is fine.....over a month or two the prices are down again.....they'll sign up again another R404 installation fee. :D

They playing the cards.........

I think that statement is half assed and stupid...R404? Oooo please don't hurt our bank balance. You have any idea how much money they will be losing in 2 to 3 months because of people downgrading or cancelling? R404 per person signing up again won't give them back all that money.

Was talking about "us" the community, I will not be happy to fork out $$$ every time for installation, setup, etc, I dont care if Telscum loose.

I wanted to cancel and that was one of the reasons I decided not to. When I spoke to the calldesk dude I asked him why I would be charged twice for installation, when my phone line was already on the DSLAM.

His half-a$$ed answer was: "Because a technician will need to go and adjust some equipment."

That's just plain extortion if you ask me. The fact that we have to pay an "installation" fee on a service that will generate recurring revenue for Telkom just grinds me - in countries where they supply real broadband solutions they give users a free modem without a contract, installation fee is not even considered.

Anybody that cancel their Telkom ADSL now will probably wait to join the SNO, rather than paying the installation fee again. Then Telkom will be screwed...

besides force them to give you self installation :)

I got my self installation working fine. I avoided the R404 installation fee.
So telkom will loose out anyways.

Yep, thats what I'm doing.

But instead of internet (and raising my blood pressure everytime I get the bill), I've signed up for Body-for-Life and getting myself into shape. Its a 6 month course so I'm sure the SNO will at least have some existence by then. As well as I can start saving for a new PC, I'm thinking: AMD64 with x1800! :D That extra grand, will come in quite handy.
