Hay guys, I have a problem that my monitor keeps on going blank when booting up to windows.

Sometimes now and then it would come on...
But its realy irretating, that I need to battle to boot up in to windows seeing the screen...
Any help would do please thanx....
Oh by the way using windows7 ultimate

Make of monitor?
Is this a desktop PC or a laptop?
Make of motherboard and graphics card?
VGA or DVI or HDMI?

You haven't provided very much information at all. Does the monitor work in other PC's?

If you have onboard graphics, try re-seating the RAM. One of you RAM modules might be a bit loose and since normal system RAM is shared with your onboard graphics, that may be the problem. Also try re-setting the CMOS jumper on the motherboard. Sometimes the BIOS goes screwy by itself and forgets to enable the onboard graphics.

If it's a dedicated graphics card, remove and then re-seat the card.

Have you tried booting up into Safe Mode? This could elminate a Driver issue, refresh rate issue. The fact that you can see everything until Windows opens points to a Driver / Windows issue.

Happens aswel wen booting in to safemode
Even in Bios aswel...screen becomes blank

Black or Blank?

Erm...I would say both...lol!!!
Pc is back on running...
Jus opened tower fiddle around abit
Back on nw, just uninstalling driver and re-installing
Let's just check if its not going to that again

Inverters sometimes do that - the screen randomly goes black at any time. I had a screen which did that.

it does not go blank randomly...just after i see windows start up logo and then goes blank sometimes even when booting into windows

What was that ATI/AMD CCC thing? There was some setting you had to change to manual or turn off? I just remember it from a similar thread where some guys monitor would be off until he got into windows (i.e. opposite problem, but worth a shot), but I've never had an ATI/AMD card so I don't know CCC.

You want to try to narrow down the source of the problem by swapping components if you can. Primarily, try the monitor in another source then try another monitor in your PC. Then take out the graphics card and try the monitor in onboard graphics.
