Thought this would be a good thread - for example, the dstv guide app, news24 app, powertime prepaid electricity app are useful, and although last.fm is an international app it works well in SA.

What other apps are useful in SA context?

Ummm the MyBroadBand App..? The only other ones I can think of that haven't been mentioned in this thread yet are News24 and Navigon South Africa.

Yeah - there are some sites that really should release apps - Ster Kinekor, Eat Out etc

I am really enjoying Stick Cricket on the IPhone 4 from the South African App Store. Then, if you like cute games my girlfriend loves Sticker Shooting Star 2

I forgot to mention that everyone should use Waze, while it doesn't have all the roads it is an awesome way of knowing where the traffic is. Then you can add any roads missing on your route and it will recommend which route is quicker!

American account

Does anyone know if it is possible to have both a South african account as well as an american account. There are a large number of apps not (yet?) available in SA.

You could say a large number... You could also say that malema is a bit of an idiot. Both would be gross understatements..

I had both in the begining. Since all the apps available in the sa store are available in the us store and that you have to keep swapping the store to update the apps from there, I ended up dropping the sa store and just using the us store.

O ja! CoPilot South Africa, I think it's better than TomTOM and Supersport.com, if you like sport of course.

I recently downloaded Onavo. It's supposed to be a data saver...
Not really sure how well it works, guess i'll know in time.

Vida E Cafe is also an awesome SA app... if you enjoy Vida e Cafe that is

FOOD24 is pretty good (when it works)

Basically a large South Africa restaurant database rated by it's users.

I like this as well. But the biggest problem is that it hasn't been updated in a while and the restaurants closest to me function pops up an error the whole time. But otherwise, a good app to help to decide where to go and eat.

Not really an iPad app, but Petrol@ZA is great to find a petrol station close by.

Can anyone recommend a good Football score app - something like scoremobile on BB.
