HP iPAQ hx 4700 and WiFi

I got a HX4700 yesterday, and tried to connect to my Wifi AP. I am running a Gigabyte B49G. Now I did connect but only with all security off (Both encryption, and WPA-PSK). I figured out that the pda doesnt support AES encryption, so i changed the encryption on the router to TKIP, but still it refused to work. Then I switched off both encryption and WPA-PSK and the PDA finally got an IP allocated by DHCP.

I cant run my router with no security at all, and was wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to make it work with WPA-PSK and TKIP encryption...

I have a hx4700 as well, connecting (WEP) to a Gigabyte AP in the office, and a Gigabyte Wireless router at home.
What is your firmware on the hx4700 ... I know there were some issues with the encryption on the older firmware.

ah, thx for that one landyman :) all is working now with WPA-PSK, and TKIP encryption.

No sweat mic_y, glad its working ... the hx4700 is one hell of a piece of hardware ... load Skype on it ... works like a charm!
 
yeah, i am actually gonna try that tomorrow. Wanna see how well it works :). I am very impressed with it.
 
hehe, well I tried Skype yesterday. Damn it is awesome... I love it. Ok now to save up another 4 grand to get a PDA for myself - which this one isn't even though the first post implies this... It is actually my step-mothers. but yeah, i want one ...
 
Ok next question... How do i gain access from the PDA to shared folders and printers on the network? Or is this impossible? i would hope it isnt, caus that would make life mych easier.
 
it is possible. I use total commander for pocket pc. just type //YOURPCSNAME/ in the bar and you'll get there

same using betaplayer to watch movies over wifi.

Betaplayer is now known as TCPMP: http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about

Also, you should be able to access the files using the normal File Explorer, but I have never tried this
 
ah ok well I kinda tried that one... Instead I typed the IP and nothing came up suprisingly... Well I will give it a shot later today, and give you guys a shout if it doesnt work out. Any case, thanks for the tips guys.
/me feels like a blonde asking all the stupid questions ;)
 
I also have HX 4700, and I still cannot connect to internet via wireless when I tried many times.

Any one can teach me how to set the PDA if my router is brand name with Buffalo "AOSS"?
