I am new to this site and opened it specifically to get help with my HTC TYTN II PRO P4550 Windows 6.1. I have been travelling around and had a great phone but sadly no more... My father has very kindly given me his HTC which he hardly used .. the one I have now. I still have an old N70 nokia luckily and am using it. I did a hard re-set to clear everything he had off the HTC and used it at first without the sim card in it for 3 days whilst i navigated my way around and got to "know" the phone, I might be pretty good with Computers but never used HTC before. Wi-fi works fantastically although I have not had the chance to use the GPS because of this issue but otherwise I LOVE IT! But then I put my sim in and discovered the issue of continuous signal dropping and have searched for 3 days all over the Internet to see is there's anything that can guide me and have found many similar posts but nothing that will actually help me. Just to let you know- as soon as i tap on "find network" it finds it and goes from "H" through to 3G and then drops signal again all within a minute. I have tried it on Manual search and Automatic (I am using MTN SA and my father previously used MTN SA as well but put a Vodacom sim in last night and the same thing happens). This is verrrry frustrating as obviously no calls or sms's can be received as well. PLEASE CAN U GUIDE ME?? I have asked this in private messages too.

I have not had a very good response so far and wondering if anyone could advise on where I could look for help on this.

Head over to xda-developers.com. There's a sub section for the TYTN II.
It sounds like you need to update the radio drivers. (you could also check the local Leaf site, but I doubt they'll have it).
Also try and find the latest version of HTC Connection Setup. This will automatically setup the data connection settings, MMS, etc.

As an aside, on xda you'll be able to download new ROMs (effectively a new version of the OS). These add new features, etc. and will give the old phone a new lease on life. Hell there's even a basic Android build for the TYTN II.

Have fun.

I have a TyTn 11 PRO Kaizer. Love the phone. GPS and all. I use it as a tethered modem for my laptop or just as is browser. No problems at all. I also use SPD Mobile shell. PM me if you want info on Mobile Shell.
Have you tried *123*13# for MTN's wap settings? This is important. Then you must go to "Settings" and "Connections" and do all the stuff it tells you to do. It will download the correct IPN and all. Then make MTN your default.

Thanks so much for you help. I can't believe I didn't think to look at the Radio Version, which is only one update behind!! But still only on 1.65.16.25 (Really am wondering how he managed to use it) I have been on the XDA-developers sight and it seems to just be forums and when you click on device DB it takes you to PDAdb.net... when you go to the download Rom Update page it gives this error "Dowload this file from PDAdb.net Error" on this page
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=reposi...ile_6.1_professional_upgrade___3.34.721.2_wwe
so I am currently trying again from the HTC site and holding thumbs. Thanks Viven. Not sure why I can't download there?? :-/
