PLEASE HELP: HTC TYTN II PRO P4550 Windows 6.1 IS CONSTANTLY DROPPING SIGNAL :-(. I have been travelling around and had a great phone but sadly no more... My father has very kindly given me his HTC which he hardly used .. the one I have now. I still have an old N70 nokia luckily and am using it. I did a hard re-set to clear everything he had off the HTC and used it at first without the sim card in it for 3 days whilst i navigated my way around and got to "know" the phone, I might be pretty good with Computers but never used HTC before. Wi-fi works fantastically although I have not had the chance to use the GPS because of this issue but otherwise I LOVE IT! But then I put my sim in and discovered the issue of continuous signal dropping and have searched for 3 days all over the Internet to see is there's anything that can guide me and have found many similar posts but nothing that will actually help me. Just to let you know- as soon as i tap on "find network" it finds it and goes from "H" through to 3G and then drops signal again all within a minute. I have tried it on Manual search and Automatic (I am using MTN SA and my father previously used MTN SA as well but put a Vodacom sim in last night and the same thing happens). This is verrrry frustrating as obviously no calls or sms's can be received as well. PLEASE CAN U GUIDE ME?? I have asked this in private messages too.

Did forumites guide you into private messages? Shame on them!

Ok, here's the truth : It's time for a new phone. Tell your dad not to be a cheapskate and buy his lovely daughter a new phone. Sorted.

CONFUSED

HE'S NOT CHEAP SKATE... IT WAS A GIFT, I AM JUST VISITING HERE ON VACATION AND SEEING AS HE BOUGHT IT FOR HIMSELF AND JUST GAVE IT TO ME, I THINK THAT IS RATHER GENEROUS. IS THERE NO WAY TO SORT THE ISSUE OUT?

The phone was released in July 2007....it's almost 4 years old.

Rather buy an entry level Nokia at Edgars or a Vodashop and use that.

Probably bad sim card. That HTC phone need a new or close to new sim card to work.
