Hi Guys

As mentioned earlier with a Poll, we believe there is allready enough interest in these accounts, that we went and initiate them allready.

These package(s) would consist of a preconfigured router that would block p2p effectively, all other usage would be allowed and working at full package speed.

The Following accounts will be available for Signup later today:

- Unlimited access
- Dynamic DNS
- Outgoing mail server facility provided
- Router Rental included
- IS news server access included - Other news servers also allowed.
- No P2P
- Month to Month : no contract

Startup Fee: R1100 for wired Router or R1250 for Wireless Router

Monthly 192K: = R750
Monthly 384K: = R1000
Monthly 512K: = R1250
Monthly 1024K: = R2500


Which router does the Package use?

How does P2P blocking work, and what does it mean?

P2P will encompass file sharing protocols like torrents, kazaa, edonkey, dc++ etc. Skype and VOIP won't be blocked...

P2P restricting is done on the layer 7 (packet) level. This means that 'ports' aren't blocked.

So the system doesn't actual shape at all. The accounts are "unshaped" but with satellite for the international portion.

Telnet on port 23 works aswell.


Who can Signup for it?

Anyone who believe the above mentioned packages, with its NoP2P limitation, would offer more value than the current subscription/ISP account they are using.

Home and Business users can Signup.

We hope we make some users smile with the full range of uncapped packages we have available, if not, we will try in the near future ;-)

What stops people from using their own adsl router which has not been fiddled with?
 
Your user/pass is locked on our supplied router.

ie. you will never know ur specific username/password.
 
one connection : you can only use the account with the supplied router at one location per account.
 
I wondn't mind looking into this, but I need a wireless router for my PC's/laptops at home. Couldn't the deal be supplied with the option of wireless routers, they are almost the same price.
 
Read original post regarding Wireless router setup fee, works out R150 more than the wired one.

Ok what happens if I manage to get the username/pass and use on my router,will that be illegal...

Well thats illegal and also wont work, since the account is hardlocked to the router supplied only.
 
Yup - afaik its allowed, ill make sure tomorrow and update the main post.
 
Clipse I see that if you spend an extra R100/month on the 512k Line
you get a 5 static IP addresses and a Cisco 837 router from IS
Spend an extra R200/month on the 1 MB and you get 5 static IP's

All depends whether you want 5 static IP for R100/month (512k)
and R200/month(1Mb) cheaper

Your startup fees are cheaper for Dynamic IP than Static IPs

kilos these packages of ours include vat, imaginet pricing is ex vat.

There is quite a big difference in pricing overall then and we offer month to month with this.

512K with 5 static ips and 12 month contract would work out R1539 (Basicly R300 more than our 512K)
1Mbit with 5 static ips and 12 month contract would work out R3078 (R578 more than our month to month 1Mbit)

Still a good price difference, right? Not to mention the bonus of month to month ontop of that.

sure thing kilos, we dont like packaging solutions with contracts or making allready available packages on contracts, available to clients.

Month to month is our business so to say :)

Shout if you need more info when deciding on a particular package.
 
what happens if I download 100gb via http? will that be allowed? all http downloads allowed?
 
Sure thing, if u have so much http to do, then go ahead.

Ill find out in more detail since u put it that way, but atm i dont see a problem with it. Expect a update about this later today.
 
sounds great but.....

I have my own router so I don't see the point of paying more than R1000.00 Rand 'setup' fee (since I don't use P2P at all) , the only purpose of this 'setup/lock up/whatever' fee is that money from my pocket enter someone elses' pocket, and I don't think it is justified in any way

Nothing personal, Clipse, just the way I see it, if IS want to offer no-P2P accounts I think there're ways to do that without charging the initial fees
