Sound card for bar PC playing mp3s

Good morning all

Looking for advice on a sound card for a basic bar PC that plays mp3s through a mixer and amp (and fairly big 2 channel speakers).

The connector from the mixer is like this, and connects into the PC via 3.5mm - http://www.cablesdirect.com/prodimages/CC399-12_LR.jpg

On the basis that drunkards probably wouldn't tell the difference between an entry- and audiophile-grade sound card, I thought of recommending one of these:

Go Cheap, no point wasting money on something that will never be used to its fullest.

any cheapie will do.
 
That will work fine, several bars in joburg use the internal sound card, and its being pumped through a rack of crown amps...funny, but it works just fine.
 
Aside from occasional *crackle-pop* from cheaper onboard sound, I'd suggest using that, for playing MP3's. On a half-decent mobo, a bunch of pub-goers aren't going to notice. Keep the MP3 quality above 192Kbs though

I agree.

It's a G31 mobo with entry dual core CPU.

The sound card will basically be for redundancy (use the onboard as backup), as well as reducing what ever stress there may be on the mobo/CPU when using onboard, if any.

Ordered the Creative!
 
Modern chipsets don't really stress the CPU for audio processing, especially if it's essentially being used for office-type work.
 
Fair enough. :)

They want, I give - along with advice that they won't notice a difference.
