Vodacom’s 2 Mbps HSDPA plans on track

would like to c the pricing on this including the CAP
 
I imagine nothing will change, it'll be the same price as thier WCDMA and EDGE. Considering the inconsistent coverage, you couldn't expect someone to pay differently if they don't know when they're getting what.
 
Hi,

I've heard that in order to get the full 2Mbps you need to be in the intersection of 7 cells and that none of the cell must have more users connected than its contention ratio allows for (otherwise, it'd start sharing bandwidth). Anyone know if this is true?

If a mobile technology can transfer at 2mb/s how can Telkom say that 512k is acceptable. Bah what utter nonsence. Telkom's ADSL will soon be out-dated. ADSL beaten down by 3G, only in South Africa.

It is nice to see South Africa taking the lead in SOMETHING, although now Telkom will use this when defending its price structure..

"How dare you question our prices, our technologies are aligned with the UK!"
 
They would do better to improve there 3g coverage and service first before running off promising things they can't even deliver at the third of the speed.....and another farking data card ?!?!!?! Oh wait Telkom own half of you what was i expecting.
 
2Mbps with 10GB cap for R250 and i'm there.. lol what are the chances.
 
Considering vodacom is majority owned by Telkom - I think we are still screwed:(

Not majority only 50%, if it were 51% then we'd be thoroughly screwed yes.

It sounded too good to be true.

Then I realised the current 3G users will be screwed, even though we put faith in the system when it was not ready.

I agree, the Telkom 50% is showing it's ugly head.

The BIG problem here is, the other partner, Vodaphone, can never get away with screwing customers in Europe, but here they can, and therefore will! And I wonder how many sods will actually upgrade the day it becomes available! As long as the SA consumer moans and groans, but still pay... NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE!!!
 
We do moan and groan, but the fact is we do need internet access. If you don't, you are screwed. In my line of business, we can not live without internet. And it's not a technical business.

So you moan and groan, but you have to pay.

It's one of those lovely catch-22 situations we as South-Africans love!!
 
Not true! You get by with what you have now! All I'm saying is, DO NOT ALWAYS BUY! All these "new, improved" products that everybody buys as fast as possible, stem from a techno-junkie attitude of SA people!

I need internet for my business as well, desperately! But, I rather first fight the fight with the providers, and start growing my business later, than just forking out what these bastards ask!
 
I also agree that use what you can. That is why I am on 3G, which is not the cheapest, but for me it work the best. I could desperately use more speed though.
