Well...we always get ripped off here, don't we? So we need to order our hardware from Mozambique in the future. Yes, I'm being facetious. I admit that makes no sense at all. But iBurst is a strange creature, we know this.
 
It's because we're at the very tip of Africa, that means we're supposed to be ****ed by business so they can make enough money to subsidizes the rest of this stupid 3rd world continent so they can go ahead and **** those guys as well.

If you look at the data prices in Moz you will see that the data prices cross-subsidizers the modem.

Yes, but Trevor's other brother Trevor has taken a dim view on contract lock-in based on hardware subsidizes. The only method to lower the cost is with prepaid which is the model used in Moz.

The incumbent charges R500 for an install, R131 a month for a line and R133 for the Fast DSL (at 384kb/s) So the ROI is 7 months.

and the free data is 800MB .... 1GB free here is R149
there 800MB = 1000MT = +-R227
so very big LOL at that statement


So even at Lets say you are subsidising at R71/GB you will need to use 20/30 GB per month to come out at the same figures as an average across users.
As far as I know , Bandwidth is not as easily available as in SA either.

And if I remember correctly there were figures bandied around by an ISP a while back that the average usage per user was under a GB per month.

Still with iBurst, firing up the old modem? If not, thanks for popping by and keeping up the interest with the new SNO (as Neotel does not want the title!)

In Moz the free bandwidth is a once-off as it is a prepaid model. It is not monthly. In ZA you receive 2GB for R149.
 
Nope , havent used it in a long time. Decided against getting my parents involved in your billing nightmare lol. So yeah probably have the modem in a box somewhere . Tried Neotel and then Screamer ( who actually provided me with a pretty good service ) .
Eventually moved house so I could get ADSL. Ok , maybe getting ADSL wasnt the primary reason for moving house :P
