Hey guys

A friend wants to buy a lappy. The spec is below.
Is this a good price for this deal?
Anyone know of any better deals happening at present? pls point me in the right direction.

thats the right one, however i requested a quote from comx for a quote for the laptop. They have not got back to me as yet. The price does seem too good to be true!
 
Indeed... that price is really really good.

I don't know what is up with ComX... I also did some online shopping with them earlier this month... requested quotes and re-requested quotes... 3 weeks (THREE WEEKS) later the quote arrived. Too late. Money spent elsewhere.

Bah. If you have an email system, make sure you use it. A day waiting for a reply is pushing the limit of acceptability to me. Three weeks to reply and you have seriously blown it.

Same with Matrix Warehouse... to send read receipts of all 6 email messages but reply to none and then deny receiving any is simply mind-numbingly incompetent... meh. pffft. and bye bye business.

it seems that comx is pulling a fast one , a week ago i thought i found an excellent deal for a dell i3 studio 1558, with 512 gc, 320gb hard drive etc for R4950 at comx website... however after requesting a quote, and receiving it within a reasonable time .. they mail me to say theres no product stock and doubt there will be any in the future.... right then!

I've actually received an E-mail on a quote from them within 1 day, but that was just a query on whether I can change the OS from Win7 x86 to Win7 x64.
 
I dunno... COMX just did not impress me... maybe "a wait until we have stock before quoting" thing ? Pity, they had good prices. Was looking at new LGA1155 system for around R9000... ended up using RebelTech, ZapsOnline and PostmanPot in the end... the others either replied too late or never responded to numerous email messages.

So far PostmanPot I rank #1 in Cape Town... no delay... very quick in replying and same day delivery... good prices too. Will be my 1st port of call in the future. RebelTech (awful website) are # 2... very quick replying to all queries... very prompt delivery. ZapsOnline not impressed with... nice website... quick to respond until payment is made.. and then the loooong wait with me having to contact them to see what the delay is... I have now asked three times for an ETA and each time I am told that there is a delay... no ETA offered. Do they not READ what I have written or are they all autobots ?

i3? If it was sandy bridge based I could understand that.

There have been a number of positive comments on Comx round here recently too.

You forgot to mention wootware. I have had nothing but great service from them. Website not that bad. Bought my 6950 from them on monday and tuesday when I got to work, it was here already. :)
 
YIPES... Yes... I apologise... Wootware are indeed one of the preferred. Very good prices and great service.
