:-(
MAC number doesnt leave the subnet.... so no-one on the net knows the MAC outside the local network.

Sorry

Possibly phone up 2nd hand good stores like Cash Converters etc in your area to see if they've bought a recent laptop...

Also report it stolen at the manufacturer. Places like Acer and Dell mark it as stolen on their records....and if the dude ever needs a repair or upgrade done on the system....BUSTED!!! They call the cops and have the dude taken away. I know this for a fact!

You should then get the notebook back....might take a year or 2 tho.

remember with house insurance you can insure your laptop as well might be a little more but worth it i think

Recently broke into our house - stole my car, laptop and cellphone. Insurance actually covered everything, including the R18 000 laptop (wasn't specified or seperately insured). Quite impressed.

AFAIK if it wasn't specified and stolen from your home, they will cover it. You need to specify goods that might get nicked outside of our house.

Well, thats what I remember from when I changed my insurance

If the laptop was in your house at the time of theft then it would be considered a hosue item. Same as your desktop PC.

Having it stolen out of your car or from your office is a different situation though which is why you pay extra if you want it insured for that.

EDIT: Argg.. Landyman already mentioned it! :p
