By trying to protect their intellectual property and the profits of their game developers? I don't think so.
Imagine you'd spent a year of your life developing a game, only to have it appear on the interwebs for free.
 
such a debatable topic, in one way yes song disabled a advertised feature but in another people are obviously using piracy and cheating with the exploit, if you honestly can say u use homebrew then well done for you but there are many more piracy users than legit homebrew users...im just enjoying all Cat and mouse action

If only Sony allowed homebrew so people can use their own codecs, create emulators and things like XBMC plus give them back Linux. A legit backup manager would also be really cool so you can load your games from HDD etc. But no, it's our way or the highway unfortunately.

yeah true true at that but thats like all the other consoles they will never open there systems to users like that its wishing apon a miracle so yeah, but i know where you are coming from as its true, but then again you will still get the other few exploiting that option, as to open the code to homebrew and protect it from piracy homebrew is very difficult....
 
i can imagine the pain of having to do all these updates, id be pissed if we had a update every so offen like PS3 has on my Xbox, they not small either and waist time

If people wanna fack around so much with the PS3, why don't they rather just go play on a PC. You can have a field day on a PC. Oh, wait.. maybe accessing free stuff without paying is their objective.

Gave the game up due to the hackers. Didn't even have it a few months. Just leave the PS3 alone. You wanna screw with it, go buy a second one, and use the first one to play your hacked games. Just stay off PSN.

That makes absolutely no sense. Buy one, hack it, don't cheat online would be exactly the same thing. Instead of engaging in collective punishment of their customers Sony should be looking at dealing with cheaters and only cheaters. Otherwise they're just slime.

Because some people like the challenge of :hacking" a device they own and it may not necessarily be for coping games.

Agreed.


Modding is not illegal. If you erpsonalised your cars engine it wouldn't be illegal so jailbreaking an iphone or a PS3 is not illegal. The act of coping games that you dont own is illegal. Please gte your facts straight.
