Being an avid MTN supporter for many years, I looked at upgrading my old modem and data package at The Glen. Signed all the necessary locking myself in for a new 24month contract, docs 21st Feb.

I contacted Customer Care 10th March and they said The Glen is strictly walk-in but the sales person whose name I gave would call me.....still waiting.

Popped into Telkom - Bought a new modem for R300 and 500mb (Pay as you go) Data for R150. Was up and running in 2hrs later (on the MTN network). Looking at my MTN contract I went to MTN The Glen to see why I am paying R189 p/month for 500mb.

They could not answer why a competitor using their DATA service is some 205 cheaper on the 500mb package and 10% cheaper on the 1Gig.

Have cancelled MTN and will still be with MTN/8.ta but at 20%cheaper rate.

No hassle with carry over of data etc - Bargain

Either way you are still being ripped off, enjoy. I can't understand why people are still paying so much for data when there are better options.

The Glen is in Oakdene, you could've bought a Cell C data sim card for R999 for a whole year. (2GB per month excluding modem)

Oakdene, Townsview, some parts of Glenanda and Linmeyer are covered by Cell C. Bassonia & Glenvista not yet.

Where are you based/suburb?
