I want to get this ... but don't want to buy it and they release MS Office 7 or something :/

Anyone know anything?
 
I have it ; I prefer real Excel :/

You must be kidding. Open Office is so bad that it got dropped from Ubuntu. If you want to use free software, rather use LibreOffice. Microsoft Office is king though.
 
Office 2010 is the latest Office package, so it will be around for at least 3 years before you have to worry about a new one. Regardless of what might happen with the new Office, your 2010 is still very much worth working with. It has all the nice features and its the new look and feel. Remember, Microsoft makes money selling you the same thing, just with more flair. That's Capitalism. So don't worry about your office package getting out of date, I would say that the guys running on 2003 are still fine even due to the compatibility updates for it to open Office 2007/2010 files.

Same here, lets call a spade a spade. That said Open Office meets my needs but I have to agree that it's inferior to MS Office.
 
office 2010 is the best office suite yet from ms. Beats the bloat of office 2007 hands down. I like how it's quick and responsive even on tired old pc's. It really is a big improvement over 2007.
 
When does one upgrade to the latest version of Office?

For the home user, just because a new version has been released does not automatically mean that it is madatory to upgrade.

If the version you are using does what you want and your OS supports it, stick with it, it's not going to suddenly cease working.

I have a few clients still happily using Office 2000, which, togther with the free converter supplied by Microsoft,even manages to handle the latest document formats.
 
Open Office FTW, Office 2010 is pretty and works great (I beta tested it) but R600 is steep for a new Office system if you have 2007. I didn't like 2007 but it will do the job for awhile to come. If you don't own office and need it go 2010, compatibility, 3 licenses and so forth make it worth it then I guess.
