Just received telkom's November 2005 brochure :

"MORE COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS"

This is so sick - they write of "COST SAVING SOLUTIONS" and
"discounted minutes"

The truth by comparison is false by a factor of 123X

Telkom's "Surf AnyTime" offers 600 minutes for R205.00
There are 43200 minutes in a 30 day month

Surfing all the time would cost a whopping R14 760.00 in a month.

Anywhere else in the decent world the same could be got for R120.00

That's 12300% more expensive - that's plainly SICK.

Put another way :

Telkom's R205.00 "SURF ANYTIME" allows the user 1.38% of the available hours in a month.
THAT'S SICK.

Just spoke to a German guy. He asked my why the internet is so expensive in SA.He said even in other countries in africa where water is carried in buckets it is alot cheaper. Just one word -telkom.:mad:
 
So true, FaaQ! Am speaking to some Dutchies at the moment. One of them moved, and applied for DSL again... minimum available package is 6M down and 768k up, no cap, no shaping, and €20,- per month!
 
Telkom always has been a ripoff and everytime we hope that something will come right , they never do , telkom is the most ignorant telecoms company in the world today

Look at their other products TV & audio 160 channels R230/month

Broadband
1 Mb R212/month 3 Gb cap
2 Mb R295/month 30 Gb cap
3 Mb R448/month 30 Gb cap

Oh well let us all dream on for faster & cheaper broadband

and that bandwidth wont have the life blood shaped out of it either, you can use it for more than just browsing and checking email, not like this Telkom stuff we get here.
 
why would people go for the .. 1 Mb R212/month 3 Gb cap ?? seems expensive vs the rest.

In most countries local calls is free.Here you pay for local calls 16c per min in call more time. For Infinitcall you pay R62.05 per month and the call gets capped at R9.84. You get disconnected 4 times or more over a weekend. What will it cost at the end of the month? Maybe one weekend a month I can stay online the whole weekend.
 
ajax - yes except infinitcall, the difference is, they dangle it infront of our noses that its "more affordable" but disconnect you so many times, that you have to pay R9 for each reconnection... this adds up!. (don't think its R7 anymore!)
