"I don't know much about this capping actually, to be honest with you." - Papi

Eish eish eish eish eish!

Time to catch a wake up Paps old boy!

To the people of Telkom, to the implementation of strategies that were adopted some few years ago, and to the focus on the business ethics and the business principles, or the basics of business. Looking at issues of costs, looking at issues around efficiency improvement, looking at issues around revenue growth … it's a combination of factors, but these are all driven by the people of Telkom.

No boet you got it wrong, your answer should be: Because we have a monopoly and we know how to rape the country, mwhahaha...

It's mainly because the system was [being] abused in the past. We are not the only countries who have done that. There are other countries in the world that have actually embarked on similar [strategies] to stop the abuse. I don't know much about this capping actually, to be honest with you. But it's really an endeavour to stop the abuse. You give people a certain maximum download capacity and they go beyond that.

Papi, please can you tell us more:

1) Name those "other countries" of which you speak.
2) Define "abuse" in terms that do not contradict your advertisements
3) You happily admit your ignorance of a highly contentious issue
I don't know much about this capping actually
, that RPM has already discussed with you - if your memory is so poor, are you really the right person to be CEO?

Seems like the Vampires got to him in the end. Must have been somewhere in a dark corridor in the bowels of Telkom HQ. The man is now a converted Telkom liar and thief of public money!

1. Denying that Telkom is making easy money off the public by overcharging is a lie!
2. Thinking Telkoms profits "are not out of kilter with rest of world" is also a lie! Telkom is WAY OUT OF WHACK!!!

Papi, I thought you were different, but seems we are getting more of the same. I am however not waiting till the end of your term to tell the world how much I dispise what your company (and now you included) are doing to this country!

TELKOM SUCKS!

Most big corps have an induction process: Seems as if Teklom's also include brainwashing and an implant of pre-recorded lies to every possible question.

Lies, all damn lies!

D.

Never had faith in him... if teklom's board appointed him, he must be of the same stuff as they are themselves...

My Declaration!

I want everybody reading this to note how Telkom is playing the role of "we want competition". Always read anything Telkom says at least twice and always think what the angle is. If they say something that remotely seems quite cool always ask, "what is the angle?”

I have now been agonizing over the Telkom situation for close to a decade and things haven't changed at all! The company in my view is beyond the point of reasonable turnaround and needs to be dismantled. It needs to be broken up into little pieces and forced to compete with itself. Under strict legislative conditions preventing crossover ownership and the like of course.

I find it disgusting that people who would most likely not survive any form of competitive telecoms environment in a leadership position get to sit in positions of power making all kinds of statements as to how well managed Telkom is and how well it is doing because of management, when we all know full well it isn’t even half true!

We are paying for that luxury and false pretence! We the public are paying for these guys to get false praises and get circulated into main stream corporate businesses with cushy top level positions when they scooped as much money as humanly possible raping the public. I am sick and tired of paying too much for a service that is supposed to be nearly free! And then hearing every year how Telkom is making more and more money! This situation is unacceptable and it is time the government starts to realize this. The time for talk is over and the time for action has now arrived. I will boo you at every corned and every event! I will point out your atrocious behavior at every opportunity I get.

I have talked enough! I have also listened to you talk enough now! Promise upon promise upon promise and no action. You just open your mouth expecting us to sit down and go “yup that is it right there! That is what needs to happen!” and leave you be. Not anymore. When you open your mouth you will be booed if I am there! The police can take me away or arrest me but no more quiet moments for you to harp on about how much competition is needed. GIVE IT! No more quiet opportunities for you to harp on about how the local loop needs to be unbundled! DO IT! No more quiet moments allowing you to praise ICASA and the work they are doing. WHERE IS THE ADSL LEGISLATION????!!!!???

THE TIME FOR BEING QUIET IS OVER! NOW I WILL TALK EVERYTIME YOU DO! NOW I WILL LOUDLY MAKE MY DISTASTE OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING KNOWN TO ALL AT THE GATHERINGS YOU ARE! AND SO SHOULD EVERYBODY ELSE WHO FEELS THEY ARE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR TOO LITTLE!

I'm a big fan of broadband myself.
Course you are - you're probably not worried about a trifling thing called a bill!

Would he have got or keep the job if he weren't?

Anybody else reading point 5 the way I am? What Papi is in effect saying is that the company doesn't have to do anything different other than to talk to customers and tell them when there are problems. Telkom also (according to him) has to tell people how great the people at Telkom are. Customers are expected to go " WHOW THOSE TELKOM GUYS ARE SO CLUED UP!!!!" when Telkom makes customers "aware of the skills base" that they have.

TELKOM SUCKS!

Dear Mr Molotsane

If you should happen upon this post while traversing the Internet on your no doubt superior (to everything) internet connection, I have a question to ask:

You say: "I don't buy the issue around our costs being appalling".

My question: Why is my 56k dial up a better connection to the Internet than the South African version of ADSL? By better I mean: uncapped, unshaped and much cheaper.

Any kind of answer would be appreciated.

Bye bye then.

I couldn't agree more.
THAT IS THE ONLY SOLUTION

Dear MoC! If you have a moment during your busy schedule of blissful slumber, please read what your new benifactor has to say about telecoms pricing in this country:

"I don't buy the issue around our costs being absolutely appalling." - Papi Molotsane (Telkom CEO)
