INCREASING competition in the telecommunications sector is leading all operators on an aggressive search for future growth.

Telkom will soon have to compete with the second national operator, but it is also coming up against competition from other sources, including the likes of its 50%-owned cellphone operator, Vodacom.

I'll believe this when I have my first bill from the SNO in my hands...

Same. There seems to be behind-the-scenes stuff going down, the SNO was supposed to be licensed last month already. 'Imminent', they said.

Imminently waiting for the SNO for how many years now?

eish. Hate to say it but this seems so typical south africa. No rush bra, we'll like start making like a business in a while..........or more.

I can't believe a company would take so long to get itself bloody well started. Do these ppl know how much every1 wants to switch over to them jsut for the sake of fscking telkom?

It's not the SNO the drag it feet, it's the DoC. The license should be issued a month ago. The Telkom year end is April next year.If they issue the license now it will effect the year ens earnings. That is the main reason I think.

Yup and the DoC gets money from Telkom every year and of course Ivy gets special treatment from Telkom.

It's not all bad though, the SNO will have more time to get things tweaked and running properly before they burst onto the market and bop Telkom square on the nose.
