Interesting interview with papi making excuses, choosing his words very carefully, and defending telkom as usual. My favourite bit was when he was asked if they are going to do some aggressive price cutting... he said "no" he wants prices to be competitive - ye its easy being competitve when you own the market hey papi. same old **** just a different day

Found the article online aswell: http://www.sundaytimes.co.za/Articles/TarkArticle.aspx?ID=1779202

With who does he want to be competitive??? and to be more competitive you usually drop prices, well unless your telkom of course, then you put them up!

Dear Papi:

You are a siffy. That means you are a complete and utter disgusting person. You are a liar, and keep emphasizing that point.

Telkom withdrew their case against Greg at Hellkom because of the "Laugh-it-off" Verdict. Your "trademark dilution" case held NO water. Don’t come with this utter bull and rubbish you have just spouted now.

Your true colors are shining through, and it disgusts me that someone like you is allowed to run a service that is so important to South Africa. You have lost the respect of the telecoms community. I will be letting people know about your deliberate lies.... guess who I have a meeting with ;)

Ciao

He stated in the article that he is going to the UK to speak to major investors. Can we get some bad publicity in the UK about our dire situation here as well? Maybe with some comparison on UK vs SA broadband pricing and our dissatisfaction with Telkom. I think these investors are getting edgy.

w1z4rd *cough*

if u really think about it, papi never explicity made that decision to drop the hellkom case, he has a group of lawyers and advisors that send him memo's telling him what he should do, because these ppl know best about their field.

its called delegation(hand down work) and decentralization(hand down decisions), therefore papi took the advice of his employees, but now must suffer the blame for what other ppl have decided for him. papi could of stood up and said "no" but he didnt because law isnt his expertise.

so blaming papi explicity isnt fair, compare him to the last telkom ceo and papi looks like a saviour, he actually gets out there and does interviews and has the guts to sit there and answer questions that blatantly label his busniess as an uncaring monopoly but he still tries to protect his business, thats his job.

we all know telkom is basically a money making machine that doesnt give a sh** about their customers. its only been like 2 months since papi has taken on the challenge, so lets give him a chance and hopefully we wont be disappointed *cough* like always.

"He [Papi] quotes a remark made by his icon Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric, to the effect that sometimes consumers require Rolls- Royce service for the price of a Volkswagen."

WTF! He honestly thinks we only need to be greeted friendly when we call or interact with Telkom!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

:D

That is a funny joke right there! Papi must be a comedian! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

WE NEED LOWER PRICES AND BETTER SERVICE!

WE ARE ALREADY PAYING FOR ROLLS ROYCE SERVICE PAPI!!!! WE ARE NOT GETTING IT!!!!

“One has to understand that some of the people who are in these consumer movements are trying to get our business to be better. They’re not being destructive.” - Papi Molotsane

Your company is destructive Papi. You have decided to adopt its classic LIES AND DECEPTION mentality for some odd reason.

Personally (and I dare not speak for the whole of MyADSL here) I am all for the dismantlement of Telkom! TOTAL ANIHALATION! TOTAL!

I will be pushing for the dismantling of Telkom wherever I can if I continue feeling the way I do now. To be frank the only way you can stop me pushing for it would be to provide the entire nation with 5 Mbps lines at R300 per month or flatrated dialup at R100 per month... Both with no less than a 30 gig cap and NO shaping!

For starters! :D

http://www.sundaytimes.co.za/Articles/TarkArticle.aspx?ID=1779202I'm a stakeholder - the type of stake Buffy used to dust vampires, how will Papi and his bloodthirsty management team deal with me?

With double-talk convincing you that a stake is not a political correct weapon and there are better weapons available. When you are convinced and starts dropping the stake, it will hit you with a 1000% ADSL price increase bill(y) club and clobber you into the ground again and again.

The number of the Beast - TELKOM TELKOM TELKOM (666) (Count the letters in each word if you are not convinced)

what is the difference between the previous CEO and this one - oh yes, thats it..... This CEO is going to rip us off, the only difference is, he is going to do it with a smile!

*sigh* And we had such high hopes for Papi. You never know I suppose. He could come through with shining colours yet.

And it's true sunsoffun... we seem to have just swapped evil for evil. I appreciate that he can't bring change overnight and I certainly don't expect him to denounce Telkom as evil on the spot. But throw us a fricken bone here man!

Except, we are getting Volkswagen service for the price of a Rolls.

Dear Papi

You of all people, you were born in the township, you have experience bad infrastructure, and you have also experienced some of the best infrastructure in the world. Surely you should understand what YOU ARE DOING TO YOUR OWN PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on man - you are withholding so much from your own nation - and then you doing it with a smile?????????? - Do you sleep at night??

My guess would be no, he sleeps during the day;)

It is alot easier to screw your own people over sometimes. Depends on who you are and who you are working for. Place he is working for says it all.

Papi had his chance!

Papi, we can realy see what type of person you are, and this includes: liar, extortionist, monopolist, abuser, etc.

Wow, you were an activist?????? Fighting for your people to have equal rights, etc?!?! And yet, you are at the helm of a company which steals and rapes it's own people, prevents them to progress, Yes, the ones which you fought for?!?!

Now, that also makes you a hypocrite!

Exactly! Here's a "prison analogy" - Telkom giving 'good service' is like giving lube to a prison-rape victim - it may make it a bit more comfortable, but ya still being raped :/

Sad thing is many people's expectations right now have sunk so low they'd probably only be too happy to be 'ripped off just the same but with a smile' by Telkom. We must never stop reminding people how badly we're being ripped off, even if Telkom starts giving great service.

"Give him a nother chance"

Think of this for a moment.....

errrr what were we talking about again .....
oh YEAH !!! If 4 some bizarre reason he decides to drop the price of telecomms he will be SUPERMAN and telkom will look good again ... well maybe NOT !!!!!
