A leading telecoms Provider in SA has a vacancy in their Cape Town office for a Network Operations Manager, who will be responsible and accountable for 3rd level network design, configuration and support.
Job Outputs
Manage a team of Network Engineers, including KPA’s Perform day-to-day network maintenance, check graphs and optimal functioning of the network Interaction with other departments and teams for implementation of new services and / or changes to current architecture Design, coordinate, implement and document complex network solutions Analyse network performance Perform network optimisation and improvement Perform advanced Network troubleshooting Implement network security policies as well as network management tools
Qualifications and Experience
2 years management experience 3+ years experience in the Internet industry with technical support and troubleshooting
5+ years in Cisco Networking environment, with a minimum of 3 years experience working in the core network layer CCNA, CCNP Good working knowledge and support of connectivity types (fibre, wireless, Ethernet, diginet, broadband, CHE1, PRI)
Good working knowledge of firewalls, MS Back Office, Unix / Linux Excellent hardware knowledge – Layer 2, 3, 4 and layer 7 devices Excellent networking skills – Cisco based (LAN, WAN, dial, network security, bandwidth management, NAT, access control lists, traffic policies and routing)
Work experience of QOS measures, including queuing, rate – limiting, traffic policies and NBAR Good working knowledge of network security (IPSEC, Authentication types, Encryption types, radius – tacacs Excellent knowledge of routing / tunnelling protocols and switching technologies (OSPF, BGP, BGP – MPLS, VOIP, VTP, Spanning Tree, L2TP, PPTP, EIGRP)
Unix scripting skills, Perl, Shell scripting will be highly advantageous Customisation and monitoring tools such as MRTG, Big Brother, Nagios
