Mobile services intend to fight porn

Want a solution - easy peasy - allow parents to sue them if their children can access porn.
Watch how quickly they come up with a solution then ...
ROFL ROFL - This is easy peasy stuff - why does everybody overcomplicate everything ?

They say they have already expressed their commitment to protecting children from harmful content
Harmful? Most guys I know were viewing porn from primary school already, and they've all turned out OK.

And to add to that, back then we didn't have cellphones or the Internet or eTV, and no titties were even allowed to be shown on TV. And yet we still got hold of porn. To all those parents out there who think that these actions are going to keep your kids from viewing porn, hate to break it to you, but your kids are gonna find porn anyway, no matter what you do!

Yeah. Like they really want to "fight" the porn. Like the internet is "fighting" to protect minors from porn.

You are so right STOKE

These poepalls just dont want to take responsibility...
It's incredible how may excuses they must go through before actually doing something about it. Theyre worse than... uh... just as bad as Telkom...!

Inteligent technology exists that can accurately identify pornography in an image - just look at Naomi - a free pc based filter. http://www.radiance.m6.net/
Also, why can one buy a pay as you go sim without an ID check? You should not be able to buy in to a public network without ID imho. It just assists criminals... want to remain anonymous?... then don't get a cellphone. Its a small price to pay for our children's safety. MTN, CELL C and VODACOM need a reality check - they need to wake up and take responsibility for the mass of crime they assist every day with their public networks. "But you can't police them all!" I hear them say... now does that mean you just don't even try? You can't catch all the thieves, murderers and rapists out there either unless you try. AND if you can provide a DETERRENT.. such as... I CAN TRACE YOUR CALL IF THE POLICE NEED ME TO... all the better!

By the way Turtle... you speak like someone who DOESNT HAVE CHILDREN! It's not about your kids finding anything... you know that some kids DONT actually go out looking for porn... but when your daughter gets a pornographic MMS from some strange man, then you will may start thinking about these issues...

Kids looking for it is one thing, but aggressively advertising it is another.

I dont see the point of watching porn on a 176X144 screen anyway, and at Gprs bills rates, these kids are paying quite a bit for these movies, and maybe pictures.

Its true, if you live school life you will see no matter how you try block kids off, they will still get porn. Most kids start getting into porn at the start of high school, and there phone is just another way to view it.

PS, if u really wanna watch porn on the go get a PSP, much better screen, and resolution. :)

Get a life 4cer. I agree that you can't protect kids from everything, but the problem these days is that not only are we not trying to protect them, but our lax attitude is allowing the porn vendors to agressively and irresponsibly market their wares. It's so much easier to be a pervert and stay anonymous these days - the public flasher can now send pictures to kids phones without any worry of being caught. We should be doing everything we can, just because you cant do it all doesnt mean you shouldnt try. If we thought that way about rapists and murderers, where would society be (already there are signs of this kind of attitude out there in SA).

Oh... 4cer - I take it you don't have kids either... just a guess since most people not opposed to this kind of thing have never really cared for children. I'm personally sick of people who have never had children giving their opinion on how we should protect our kids.
