Never knew they left SA. I mean, just weeks ago I still saw HiSense billboards with 3D blocks coming out of them promoting their 3D LED's.

Hisense had a relaunch event. It doesn't mean they left the country, quite the opposite really. They have expanded their product range to include small home appliances and have added a few high spec refrigerators and 3D televisions.
Hisense has a partnership with Whirlpool and by the end of 2011 Hisense will be manufacturing 80% of Whirlpools fridges. They also have partnerships with AMD, IBM and Hitachi.
The event was not aimed at consumers like me and you but rather at the buyers and managers of the top stores in SA.
Friendly fact: Hisense is currently the ONLY brand in South Africa to carry out their own service. All brands including Sony and Samsung use agents country wide to service and repair their goods.
Dont doubt Hisense for a second, they have led the Chinese market in TV for over 7 consecutive years and air con market for over 14 consecutive years. China is a power house and Hisense being the biggest electronics brand in China is powering up as fast as the Chinese economy. Dont forget that ALL brands including LG, Sony etc are made in China!!

They never left, they just re launched. Meaning they brought in new products and an entire new product range - Small home appliances.
They had advertisements all over the Egypt VS SA AFCON qualifier match at Ellis Park on Saturday - the day after the re launch.

Interesting. Whirlpool in South Africa is white labeled products so it will be interesting to see if it filters down to other Whirlpool white goods.

What is interesting is that the largest white labeler in South Africa will start making panels locally soon, found that from them a few weeks back when we where testing one of their TV units for a project.
Going to be interesting.

How is being the leading authority of goods from a country that makes k@k goods any good?
I put my trust in Korean and Japanese brands thank you. China has a lot to catch up on.

Never liked HiSense. But their television sets are OK from what I have seen. So they are relaunching. There are some stiff competition in that market. Will have to see how they do. It is not the company with the best products that makes the most sales, but the one who can find the customers more successfully.
