Hi
I've had my number ported from Vodacom to MTN on 8 Dec 2010.
Ever since then, I had many people telling me that they are unable to reach me.
Incoming calls and smses don't come through successfully all the time and it just says the whole "subscriber unavailable" thing.
Text messages sometimes take a couple of hours to come through.
I've been phoning MTN about this problem since somewhere in January when it seemed to be more than just the network being busy in the holiday season.
Only in March when I phoned MTN did they suggest I phone the porting department and ask them about it.
I phoned them and they said they'll look into it, and I've been phoning them every single week since.
I've made two complaints on hellopeter and another at ICASA but still I'm struggling with this issue.
I would just advise everyone even thinking about porting to MTN to not do it, or at least know it's a risk.
My brother has exactly the same problem, so it seems they're screwing up something.
Ultimately I would love to get my contract canceled and move back to Vodacom, but I just can't afford that insane early cancellation fee. This problem has already cost me at least R10000 in one weekend that I know of. I can't even imagine what other business I might have lost.
So I am wondering if anyone else has had problems like this and if there are any thoughts or suggestions as to how I can resolve this?
I can absolutely not carry on with this problem for another 20 months I have left on my contract!
Thanks for any help whatsoever.
