Indeed, some anticipate an announcement in the next few weeks... Should the rollout begin late this year or early next, the SNO network could go live by mid-2006."

It keeps on changing to a later date...I think we will soon start hearing 2007.

AAARGH! isn't the 9billion about the same amount the overseas company that recently pulled out of Telkom walked away with? mmm. They could have invested, but hey! On a side note: Thswane (HUH?!?! How the hell do you spell it?) could well exceed Telkom ADSL speeds within the municipality area. That should at leat bring some relief and offer some discounted local calls etc etc.

On a very different side-note: RPM... sent you an e-mail to antitrust account re. joining lobby group and where can I get hold of those stickers... hehehe I luve the "N4QU2" one! What could I possibly do while here in New Zealand??

Papi, if you reading this. Well done so far. You look like a man of action in a tight spot! I really wish you the best and hope we can improve Telkom's services and South Africa's telco industry together.

9 billion? So basically with the amount of profit Telkom makes they could easily build another network to handle the traffic from "abusive" adsl subscribers.
 
Wow, the SNO licensing is getting more imminent all the time! I didn't know something could be so imminent but it looks like its even immineter than it was the last time they announced how imminent it was! This might be the most imminentest event in the history of SA. Its so exciting! Lets hope something happens imminently or I don't think I'll be able to handle the suspense any longer!
 
Imminent, nearly, close, almost. Throw me a frikken bone here!

On a side note, I wonder why they dont just go wireless.
 
imminent has lost its meaning since they started using it with the DoC & sno.
 
Telkom has pointed out that legislation offers its protection from unbundling for the first two years after the introduction of the SNO, but it is possible that government will move to accelerate liberalisation in a bid to reduce what are considered to be excessive voice and data tariffs.

We have to wait another 2+ years. :mad: The Government must do something now!

I am so sick and tired of reading about the shoddy state of our communications while nothing constructive is being done about it!
 
Imminently we'll have two operators vying to rip us off instead of just the one.
