Telkom rival to invest R1.5bn

I wonder how long they're allowing for a complete return on that investment? They dont want a price war so I doubt it will take to long to fall in line with the telkom model of screwing the country.

When I send Santa my xmas list I'm putting a strong regulator right at the top! Given the choice between asking santa and government I believe santa has a better chance. After all, government is just a figment of our imagination.

Looks impressive... I want to be optimistic about this, but dang.. starting in JHB first :( It seems us ppl from PE is only the butt end of the waiting list for anything to do with IT or Communications.. so not fair! :(

But hopefully, they won't want huge profit margins instantly, and can ride out the cost of the investment over time, hence decreasing costs of telecommunications in good ol' ZA. :)
 
There are municipal networks up in JHB, PTA and Ekurhuleni. The Ekurhuleni Network is due to come online and in a resellable state by the middle of next year.

They should come to DBN pretty soon, seeing this place is home away from home ;)

Why is it we seem to get bypassed by so many things. Like the people in Durban need iBurst or MyWireless any more than we do.

Unfortunately I dont see any improvement in pricing for a long time to come - unless they're forced to of course but the chances of the government neutering either of their cash cows (SNO or Telkom) is a bit far fetched.
 
If the investment over 3 years is only 1/6th of Telkom profit for one year, how can they hope to compete?

I think this is just another token gesture form government so that Telkom can say they are competing in an open market. :(
 
Can anyone tell me if the SNO will have any access to undersea cables? ie. without going thru telscum?
