I'm Facing a bit of a problem here. All my friends are changing sever (as they have other friends on that server). It first I disliked the idea, I like the US server but I am now forced to sell this account.

Thus I have an account for sale all set up and ready to play one email away from being yours.

I live in Cape Town so if you you too live here and you dont trust me I can even meet you some place for the sale.

Anyways this is how I would like to stucture it...
the game costed me R435.00 and I have bought 3 months in advance for R100 each.
Thus the game thus far has cost me 435+300=R735
Obvously People would not like to risk me cheating them If they did not make something out of it, thus.

I will sell if for ....
R350 for the game.
and R80 for each month.
=R590

Soon, (where admittedly, soon, as defined by blizzard can mean up to a 5 year wait) Blizzard will be releasing WoW in SA officially.

Now, locally we do not warrant our own server farm. So our official server (like the austrailian official server) will be hosted on the US or the EU server farm. From what I have read, the US server farm is going to be the home for SA.

Which means, everyone with a US account, will immediately be able to create characters on, and play on, the official SA server when its released. People with EU accounts will have to... well... play with europeans.

If you are desperate to play with GMT+2 people, create characters on US:StormRage, which is the "official" unofficial home of SA players on the US realms.

The local retailers have been postponing the local release for months on end now, because "the suppliers have hassles" or whatever pops into their mind at the time. I've waited long enough now, I'm going to the EU servers too.

Allocating to the US servers would be a stupid thing to do on their part. It just doesn't make sense. Time zone makes a HUGE difference and latency is slightly better to EU servers.

So dont call anyone a fool, because your reasoning is horribly flawed as well. :o
 
Selling ur account according to their terms and service is illegal and will get you banned.

just btb...

If I'm not mistaken there is a facility to move your character accross servers but only if a server isnt as populated or something....
 
On the other hand. Selling your copy of WoW is NOT illegal, is in fact a legally enshrined right (that of first sale - i.e. if you buy something you can sell it again).

Given that WoW has no facility to sell a copy (media + cdkey) seperate from the account, you *have* to include the account in any sale of the game.

leChuck is liasing with BTGames, that have WoW slated for a January SA release. According to leChuck, using a US realms CD Key.

ps. Timezone ISN't an Issue. On the US Realms at least, one can already select the timezone of the server, The US provides "America" and "Oceania" realms (being GMT-7 and GMT+8 respectively). With an official SA release, there would easilly add an Africa realm selection.
 
The problem I've heard with EU servers are the lack of nice English servers. Language definately is a problem there.

As for US, Stormrage is great and sits on the east coast. I have an avg ping of about 550 whereas on Nerzhul, on the west coast, I averaged on 1000 ping.
 
My pings, though my works internet connection, are down to 200ms. The ingame latency ... I have been getting a green latency bar (<300ms) quite often to Stormrage.

ps. what evidence do you have that Nerzhul and Stormrage are in different hosting sites anyway?
 
Well, i've been on EU servers for ages, there are no language probs. Additionally, i enjoy chatting with peeps from a broad spectrum of countries, its great, and everyone's on round about the same time.

Plz just reread that and think about what you are saying... How would that help ?
 
I agree with Strobemeister. I also play on EU servers and it's great. Our Guild The Valheru Order play on the Dentarg realm and language is not an issue. Ping is around 600 to 800 (100% playable even on Battlegrounds).

The only issue with US servers are the huge time difference. You'll have to play at insane hours if you want to join Raid parties with US players.

On the EU servers there is almost no time difference.....
 
I play with Strobemeister on EU servers, and it's all good. Also average btw 500 - 800. :D . Pity though that the local release is US bound would been really cool to recruit some noobs for the cause. :rolleyes:
 
Yes sounds strange to make a US server the "Official ZA" server. I also play quite happily on EU servers with friends and family. In EU 7-11 is prime time. Loads of instance, raids and other requests spamm u chat during that time. Cant imagine it otherwise. I've been playing a few months, but recently the dozens of people moving over from US to EU talk about a "ninja" phenomenon. Is there something on US servers we dont know about? :)
 
Why is it strange? If anything is strange its the south africans who purchased the EU copy of WoW.

Fact is, the US release was first. With no sign of an impending ZA release (and, initially, no indication that the EU release would be a seperate realm), the US version was the logical one to get.

All that had to be done to ensure GMT+2 compatible raiding was pick a server for south africans to play on.

This was done.

Its called Stormrage.

The australians have a similar issue. There WoW was officially released with the US version. They (an australian gaming mag) chose the Blackrock server.

But now, the US version has a timezone selection tab. With America and Oceana tabs. With a SA release a GMT+2 tab would be added - for those people wishing to play with other GMT+2 players.
 
I don't think we're to blame really, besides the obvious time thing. Think about it, most SA citizens know of some one in the UK, more so than the US so it was much easier to obtain keys etc. Secondly allot of our electronic/game stuff is UK bound and just diverted to SA, so it's not illogical to think we would be getting an EU version.

Anyway this is all specualtion, nobody knows 100% sure of where SA release is going to be located.
 
Well, i wish it would be EU, i'd fancy buying gamecards here, instead of using someone's credit card every 3months.
