e90 BMW 320i Oil change

Hi Guys,

I wanted to get your opinion on oil changes for my 2010 BMW 320i which i bought about 2 weeks ago. I bought it from the BMW dealer with 22500km on the clock. I've just hit 23000km. Thing is though the car has not had its first service yet and the on board computer says the oil change only needs to happen after 10000km! Thats a first oil change at 33000km! BMW say that if the oil change is done earlier than what the on board computer states, then I have to pay for the oil change and the motor plan won't cover it. Surely I can demand an oil change on the basis that the car is one year old now, regardless of the kilometres that its now done?

Any e90 owners out there that has done an oil change much later or much earlier than this? Did you base this on what the on board computer recommends or did you just get it done when you felt it was time.

i'm a noob when it comes to this. Its my first beemer. It's so much easier with my '05 fiesta, i just have to take it in at every 20000km for a service where they do everything that's needed. Never had to worry about such things before.

Follow the on board computer. She knows all. Maybe ask them to do a printout of the work done on the car. Take your key a service advisor. They'll be able to check. Maybe a service was done before. You've admitted you're a noob, so don't stress. I know it's a step up for you from Fiesteyland, but your car not going to get damaged by delaying an oil service by 10000km - it's 1 year old.

thanks Carbon_fibre. When did you do your first oil change?

I'm sorry to say none of my 3 BMW's had less than 40000km when I bought them. Once day, I'll buy a brand new M3. For now I love my 2006 323i M-Sportspack (18").
