Hi guys,

So... I had an accident with my car (1986 Honda Ballade) on Saturday, the whole front is messed up, and I don't think it'll be worth it to have it fixed.
It was also giving me some problems lately, exhaust needs to be replaced, it's heavy on fuel, gears don't change when it should (Automatic), and ofcourse, the reason for the accident... the brakes also give problems.

I have to decide whether it'll be better to sell it to a scrapyard or to someone that might want to fix it up.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you need a new car.

You could sell it to someone that would want to fix it up, obviously you are going to get peanuts for it.

Did you not have insurance?

i had the same scenario 3 or so years ago -they quoted me R12000 to fix because parts were so scarce it was expensive.
problem was the car was only worth R5000 - R6000 according to insurance and panelbeater.
so floked it for the R5000 and cut my losses.

you cant replace a vehicle that takes you from A-B for R5000 but sometimes ****-happens and i didnt have R12000 either!!

Sell it for spares.

Get a new car - your next accident in this vehicle (if fixed up) could very well be your last - depending on how bad the last one was, you should be lucky.
