Article: ANC Youth League pursuing campaign for land redistribution without compensat

The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) is pursuing a campaign for land redistribution without compensation, its president Julius Malema said in his hate speech trial on Thursday.

In response to questions on the subject, he said the current official policy was willing buyer, willing seller, but that this was not working and a "more radical" policy was needed.

Because it worked so brilliantly in Zimbabwe, no doubt.

Zanu-PF is still in power.....that is a success in Malema's books. The problem is that Malema's books arn't really books in traditional sense....they're more colouring books for children aged 3-5, with no small detachable parts in case he swallows it. Don't expect much mental horsepower from the ANCYL.

Anyone following the hate speech trial on twitter (@StephenGrootes) ?

Adv for Afriforum just asked Malema: Can you name one democratic state where land was taken without paying ?
Malema: Zimbabwe

Kind of a stupid question though... Since by taking land without compensation you are by definition not being democratic. Rights to private property are a basic principle of a democracy... of which the ANC and especially the brain boxes in the YL aren't particularly fond.

Not so stupid really when he was obviously trying to make the same point you just made.

What is stupid is that Africans still seem to think the Zimbabwe transformation was a huge success.

Tch tch tch. Malema should watch what he says. He is like the leader for the South African Black Adolescent Army. If he says, "Let's march and give the parliament buildings to blacks that don't have shelter, the people will follow him." To the uneducated black majority, Malema is like the proactive prince of South Africa with Zuma being the humble King.

Hey, Zim is a democracy. It has elections every now and then!

As I've mentioned before, let's wait and see what the ANC bigwigs respond with.

Does this surprise anyone?

I am pretty sure the ANC use the YL's voice as a sounding board to see how the masses respond.
