[How to] iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch - Watch AVI, DIVX, MKV etc without converting!

Hey guys

I set up a guide highlighting an awesome app that plays these formats on iPhone/iPad, iPod Touch etc WITHOUT the need for converting! AVPlayer(HD for iPad).

This way it stores it on the device itself, unlike AirVideo. If you want to stream it at your house, then AirVideo is a good idea, but for on the move this is awesome :D

If I wouldn't have VLC player, which I am very happy with since it is no longer available, I'd download this one right now.

:D Yeah they removed VLC :( But actually this app support AC3 (which i dont think VLC does) and it plays files smoother according to user reviews. So if you have any problems with VLC then at least you know an alternative now!

And you can still download VLC but you need a jailbroken iPhone/iPad..and for the iPad2 there is no jailbreak yet, so this is a great option!

Personally I prefer using AirVideo to convert - the file sizes are considerably smaller which means I can fit more on.

Bit of a duh moment but I only figured out today I can use Goodreader to quickly copy (and subsequently play) video files over over wifi - particularly handy if you're visiting a friend and want some of their content. :o
 
I have VLC - I did DL it some time back and it works. I saw that VLC Media has issues.

But for home use Air Video is great but portability outside I'll have to load up the shows on the iPad. I guess trying VNC to sync could be a plan but at R2 a MB I can't justify R350ish to watch a movie.

I'll give it a look see though.
