Optis tries to stall SNO proses

Optis: A good showcase of a SA rip-off company, with quite a shady setup:

Optis telecommunication
Warren Friedland – 30 percent
Alan Friedland – 25 percent
Monique Friedland – 18 percent
Lotsons (Seth Phalatse) – 10 percent
Orient China Investment Corporation – 9 percent
Shanghai Telecom – 6 percent
Ian Levitt – 1 percent
Richard Rubin – 0.5 percent
Judy Lyster – 0.5 percent
Alan Friedland is the father of Warren (18) and Monique (21). Orient China has strong links to Shanghai Telecom. Little to nothing else has been disclosed about the other individuals; none seem to have any experience in telecommunications.

Greed greed greed ......

He would have this already dragged out process extended for his own financial gain forsaking the rest of the country.

Heh Telkom, this guy will fit in nicely amongst your board members ;)

A quote from the article:

"Headed by Alan Freidland, whose main business is Brilliant Panel Beaters in Johannesburg, Optis caused a stir in the initial bidding round when it was found to have copied another company's presentation and that the proposed CEO, Freidland's son, was too young at the time to sign contracts."

Why do our courts even waste time with this??

Optis' case against the minister of communications states that if it had known that the 51% controlling stake in the SNO was to be split up, then it would have re-entered its bid for the second round.

Yeah, and if I'd have known Telkom shares would be so profitable, I'd have bought some. I should send a letter to Telkom demanding shares... :D

Stupid idiots.

these guys need to be taken out and shot :D
maybe we too should get some lawyers and threaten the SNO guys for shares :D

"Panel Beaters", I'll bet they're honest upstanding citizens – NOT

Throw them out of court.

It dates back almost 5 months to July!

Ha ha ha...the SNO is NEVER going to materialise!!!

There will be many little power struggles inside the SNO as everyone falls over each other for a share of the pie.

Unfortunately if people like this are prepared to stall the SNO for their own self-interest, then one can only assume that if and when they DO get in there that they won't have the people's best interests at heart as they certainly don't at the moment. Then again, I could be totally wrong.

I'm willing to bet money on the fact that a lynch mob will form out of a group of MyADSL members - and exactly this will happen... if they don't get thrown out of court first :D please let it be the latter...

actually I prefer the second ... them giving us some shares ... :D
it would be great if this forum could have a real say in the running of the company .... but .... back to reality :)
and forking out more cash for crap service
